Hmm. In my recent experience pretty much every top player from the French league who comes into the PL seems to do fairly well right off the bat?

Help me with a list of the ones who have really struggled, will you? I'd like to compare with the list of those who haven't.

Okay just off the top of my head:

Martial
Batshuayi
Bakayoko
Lucas Moura
Zlatan
Origi
Mamadou Sacko
Sofiane Boufal
Nkoudou
Feghouli
Mounie

I'm sure you'll say those aren't top players and cherry pick your Kantes and your Hazards though.

and Fekir might do the same, but currently between him and Mahrez one has had a very good season in our league, the other has had a very good season in France. One has won the PL before, the other hasn't. One is the one Pep wants, the other isn't.

Apart from Zlatan, who btw had 26 goals in his first season in all comps at the age of 79, the rest are supposed to be 'Top' players from France? Interesting.

Martial was 18 when he came and certainly everybody was making a joke out of United spending that much on him because he was hardly known to be half as good as Fekir is currently.

Funny list you've made up.

If you read the post where I asked for a list, you'll infer the list asked was for top players because top players from France were the subjects of the discussion. Obviously I overestimated basic reading skills of the other poster, and thought it wouldn't be necessary to add 'top players' in the 2nd sentence again because the context was obvious even from the first sentence.

So, I find the list funny because it contained 1 top player, who supposedly struggled a lot in England despite having 26 goals at his age when most wrote him off as finished/French league player, etc.

What you disagree with is interpretation of what is a top player. Gen question, what makes you right and him wrong on that front?

Because if he just shows up in the middle of a conversation I'm having with somebody else, asking for a list of top players (with the context being with respect to stats because that's what the discussion was following from earlier on), then I'm going to assume this random poster has read the earlier bit and is also posting his list in relation to that. Otherwise, the new poster is taking me on a separate dialogue than from the one I'm in the middle of, isn't it?

Neither did he define what the hell he considers as top players before posting his list if he did implicitly change the running context in his head. If he's going to add likes of Mounie and Nkoudou and most of the other average players as TOP French players before coming to the PL, then fuck sake mate I'm going to be 1. confused, 2. find it amusing and laugh at it.

I would not wish Sergio out of the door anytime soon. But anything over 70mil plus for him, assuming City have suitable replacement in mind would seem like good business, rather than see him walk away from the club for nothing. The key would be identifying how we replace his goals would they be shared amongst the wingers and attacking midfielders or do we bring in a specialist like Sergio, but who has the capacity to adapt to Peps tactical expectations of his front man.

Indeed.
Securing Allison/Oblak or some other top keeper and retaining Salah would be job done. Anything else would be gravy.

Klopp is doing a fantastic job at Liverpool.
