General transfer rumours

Ffs we might as well pack it in then, was good while it lasted reading some of the posts the scousers have it won already, good top quality signings but let’s see how that equates onto the pitch, throw in the pressure klopp will be under to obtain silverware..

Regardless, the work done by the transfer committee has been excellent so far. Got the top priority targets, before the WC.

Wonder how long that Coutinho money is going to last. When they bought VVD for 75 mil, scousers said it was the Coutinho money. 170 mil later (Fekir, Fabinho, Keita), it's still the Coutinho money. Most amazing thing is that 140 mil seems to be accepted fee when it's actually 105 mil with the rest in bonuses related to number of goals, trophies, etc.

No worries, Klopp has had a net spend of 10m the first two summers in charge, but have had a reported budget of 100-150. On top of that Liverpool have earned an extra 70m on CL this year. Add the Coutinho money, and you don't have to worry.

Thank you for the concern though.

No worries lad. Always concerned for bin dippers. Heart's bleeding and all that stuff. And hey thanks for the off the cuff lesson in finance! Well what do ya know, just waddling through bunch of bullshit on a forum and an MBA degree just lands in your lap. Nice work.

I suspect at least one from
Fekir, Fabinho and Keita will flop. Whilst they are assembling an impressive squad, we were by far the best team in the country last season during which Salah had a freakish campaign.

At this juncture, it’s difficult to say who will be our closest rivals. Arsenal, Spurs, United and Chelsea shouldn’t be completely written off, and we won’t necessarily improve.
We will improve our football/build up etc but will obviously get fewer points. Last season was a freak of nature.

Agree mate....I think we seeing the difference between a team hungry to win something and want to catch us at all costs (Liverpool) and a team that just had a 100 point season and is relaxed going into the summer transfer window.....Problem is we relax too much and we'll fall behind. We had a few hard lessons after successful seasons in the past and I think that sticks in peoples minds but chairman has said we wont let that happen again...seeing these signing does make you wish that sometimes we were alittle more decisive/showed alittle more urgency in some of our transfer dealings but anyone that follows the transfer thread over the years knows we have a particular way of doing business and the clubs transfer plan isnt always set at the same speed as the supporters! ;)

Stop talking shite - you have no idea what the fuck our team are doing behind the scenes yet you post as if you do.

Then your opinion is unknown as you change it depending on who you are responding to.

Only the other day you confessed to not knowing what was going on and having to trust the team, and then you come out with the bollocks that they are dragging their heels.

So straight question, Do you know what is going on or not?

LOL!....I find these questions so funny! mate, just think for a minute....none of us know what is going on, right? Should that stop you or I having opinion? No.... I'm just respectful to other views, not going to call out anyone for thinking different to me...so sometimes I just agree to disagree. Not going to say anyone talking shite becuase none of us know the whole truth....as an old bluemoon saying goes....."give your head a wobble"

Then my original opening gambit with you today stands - stop posting shite, and if it is possible, dont change your mind when your next buddy posts something different

As long as I respectful and until "proven" wrong.... I'll say what I want...thanks for the heads up tho!;)

Yaya to west ham! I think that will be a disatser. They are heading for another rough year me thinks. Which will be a shame for Pellegrini and Zaba, not arsed about Yaya though.

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but surely there has to be a better system than the current transfer system for football players around the world? The way I see it, is the most of the vast and ridiculous amounts of money that change hands for players just ends in constant circulation, with probably only a small percentage filtering its way down to lower league clubs to help their development. Worse, is that large sums from these fees get taken out of the industry altogether by way of agents, advisers, lawyers etc.
In the end, the net effect is the big clubs have to generate more and more revenue to feed the crazy transfer fee inflation - to do that match day costs are put up, tv packages are sold off to companies like Amazon and pay tv subscriptions are hiked every year. So is there an alternative? Radical but why not scrap transfer fees? Safeguard lower league clubs development revenue by giving them a guaranteed pay out from the top divisions. Players would still have employment contracts just like most workers and to stop any chaos you'd have a registration date for the season ahead to stop in-season movements. You could slightly enlarge playing squads to cover for injuries etc. and there would be no restrictions to sign out of contract players.
If a player then really wanted to leave a certain club, they could buy their contract out.
Main revenue sources for clubs would still be broadcasting, commercial and matchday revenues but without transfer budgets more money would be put into lower league and grass roots football - perhaps by way of a levy or fixed %, perhaps even to national bodies to distribute?
I'm sure there are holes in this but if there was a way to reduce the spend on players fees, cut down agents influence, stop the wastage of resources, create a more equitable distribution of funds to lower leagues, reduce match going costs etc then it could revolutionise the sport.
