General UFC thread

Don’t back up against the octagon against a man who has KOd you before ffs.
He should have got on his toes.

100% this, he has to know he's 3-1 up on rounds, Pereira has to go for KO and knew it was time to empty the tank.
And what makes it an even poorer decision is that Izzy doesn't mind boring the crowd if it means his hand is raised at the end. Weird decision to sit back and let him unload.

A good wrestler will have a field day with Pereira.

Would've been totally over at the very end of the 1st had Izzy been afforded a mere 5 seconds more imo, that right then left hook was brick crumbling awesome! Alex was saved by the bell in that instance, no doubt.

The checked leg kick n wobble at the end was so unfortunate, just couldn't quite get his bearings back on point whilst taking them head n body shots, i do feel ref made the correct call in all honesty, an unleashed high flying knee connecting with Izzies jaw wouldn't have made for a nice sight.

Finally got around to watching the full replay of 281.

Knew McCann would be beat, but I hoped by KO and I was confident Wei Lei would be champ.

Watching the Adesanya fight, I thought maybe I was wrong, getting into the fourth round... and then I realised IA was fighting a guy at the weight of a light heavy, when he struggled to take Pereira down, something Adesanya has had problems with before when he fought Blachowicz.

Finally he gets caught with that blind (cos it's real short) left hook after the uppercut and it was done.

Next fight I think we'll see Adesanya pick up the pace and wrestle much more, mix it up. Has to gas out Pereira, as that left punch is money in the bank when it catches flush.

Gutted for him, but could see it coming.

Joe Rogan said in his last fight against Strickland he cut 47 pound and put it straight back on, he has lethal hands, the way he circled Izzy onto that hook was lovely.

Perriera is heavy, but the entries into takedowns and trip attempts were really poor. You need to get their hips moving, the arm control was quite good once he got him down but he still never seemed like he was in control and putting weight and pressure on the right places. Perreira used strength and power in getting out of every situation, it's in those movements that a fighter who has trained specifically for this uses small adjustments to use that power push against them. In fact, Usman is really good at that when he goes into wrestling transitions. You can't expect him to ever be that level, but i would fully expect him to be light years ahead of Perreira in that aspect and he wasn't really.

On the feet, honestly i thought he was lighting Perriera up but he got tired and made a miscalculation in the final round that cost him. Perreira is a beast, he took some good shots and if the first round had gone any longer he probably would've been toast but he recovered really well. The biggest thing going for him, and Izzy tbf, is that there isn't a really big wrestling threat in the MW division. You saw when Izzy went up a weight and Blachowicz just used his weight and power to take him down and keep him there, if either of these guys came up against anyone like that they'd be in deep shit. I actually think Usman would give Perreira trouble, as long as he didn't try and get macho with the kickboxing.
