General UFC thread

Interesting, although Jones will be manhandled by Cormier, I'm wondering if DC's emotional state will get the better of him!

Too close to call and maybe a step too far for Jones.

Watched DC a LOT and I don't like his style, so I'm gutted to say I think he'll take the title.

Corner was great he needs to fight the elite to see the best out of him. He has the power and a different style to most. The buzz around the Dublin about Conor is just crazy. There was a big ass painting plugging up his fight last night to make sure everyone knew Conor was fighting and the event. I wont lie Conor is right in what he says a world title fight in Dublin would sell out a big staduim would of sold out the Aviva Stadium in his last fight in the Dublin the demand for tickets. The UFC are on a winner here with Conor they could make hugh money on Conor and get the record attendances in Ireland never mind anywhere else because of his following and just how good he is. I liked his interview saying he would go to Brazil to fight the lad is a fresh breath of air in the UFC a bit like Naz predicting the round and backing it up.
Be interested to see what they do with Conor put him straight in with a World title fight or a eliminator fight but this guy will go far so much belief in his abilities and a winners mentality.

Man, I have sooo many fights to catch up on and analyse!

My recorder is full because the amount I have to work through!

Feck!!

I know what you mean. There haven't been any great standout cards recently though so that's why I've not updated this page.

There have been some pretty good matches though. The Mark Hunt v Roy Nelson fight was pretty good.

The match ups on the new TUF:20 have been good too. The Cat Zingano v Amanda Nunes fight from this weekends ppv was also good.

Praying to the fight gods that Lawler does the job this time round by punching Hendricks' head clean off for it to land into Marc laimon's lap.

Also hoping Melendez can do the business against Pettis. Should be a good fight. A double knockout in the Schaub vs Browne fight would be delightful also.

Shocking judging decision at last nights UFC 181

If you've not heard. "CM Punk" Phil Brooks is now in the UFC!

Pleased for Robbie but dont think he should have got that decision.
One judge gave him 4 rounds?!?!?!?! landed half the strikes Hendrix did and completed zero takes downs

He's going to get absolutely killed

Aparently the green power ranger has called out cm punk. No joke. UFC slowly turning into pride and I love it.

Haha CM Punk with UFC holy fuck. I dont know if this is going to work out well. Saying that if he has any skills who knows but how good is his chin is the main question for me and how he copes when someone is choking him out and theres no way out haha. Got to love Dana White for giving Punk a contract if anything UFC with Punk on the PPV might get some extra buys so makes sense will he fight out his contract I doubt it very much.

I was hoping the UFC had said goodbye to these types of silly match ups when James Toney thought he'd do the goods in the octagon. This Punk fella will obviously create interest and buys and that's all Lorenzo and White are interested in. It's good for business.

What irks me is that there are so many fighters who have been working so hard on the independent circuits for years in the hope that one day they'll get a slot on a UFC under card. This guy without any fights to his name and a little training from one of the Gracies just strolls on in and will most likely get put on the main card.

I agree. He's set himself 6 months to train and likely will be up against a guy with a 1-0 or 1-1 record but even they will have trained for years.

The UFC have signed him as Bellator would have signed him instead and put him on free tv to big ratings.

As much as I think it's ridiculous for the sport, business wise it's excellent as I know many will watch it including me!

Agree mate, but we know cash money is what talks. Atleast lesnar was a champion wrestler back in college plus being a super athlete making it onto nfl training rosters. Not to mention he had a fight before coming in.

The only thing that annoys me is that they are going to give him someone with fuck all experience. Lesnars first fight was mir. Toneys was couture.
