General UFC thread

Horrible prick,no humility and obviously surrounds himself with sycophants - not my bag.
All part of his act I reckon. I find him entertaining, but I don't think I could be in a room with him for too long.

Romero - wow, he's got to be steroided up to the eyeballs hasn't he? He was about twice the size of Weidman and was actually the lighter of the 2 fighters?! Don't like him, but would love to see him knee that rag **** Bisping in the head.

Also, Tate retired, she looked terrible, really not up to the task at all - pity for her retiring on a loss, but probably the right time to go.

Think it's obvious McGregor wouldn't be any where near as successful as he is now if he didn't have the mouth. Fans like controversy.

Bisping has done all that in the past but especially with the likes of the yanks that probably don't understand our humour well, most seem to dislike him even though he's always been one of the most solid fighters. Haven't watched UFC anywhere near as much since it went on BT - we've got 2 champions in 3 divisions now, isn't this the most successful period we from these isles have had in the UFC?

Maybe in terms of money earned as he's made himself a bigger draw. He's won his fights on merit though.

I cant knock McGregor the guy is a talent. Hes a fighter and a proper fighter. People wont like him for a reason the way he carrys on. Hes a business man he talks shit and backs it up in the ring. He is all looking after himself number 1. What fighter would move up weights and fight Nate Diaz twice at a bigger weight once on short notice?? Not that many if any. Fighting in the weight division he won in last night might be good. I just feel Conor may well go for the winner of Wonderboy v Woodley and if he can win that he will go down as 1 of the greatest ever. Only 28 the guy has a few years left in him. It will be interesting to see what happens money wise with him in the future as his PPV numbers is crazy he is looking for a bigger contract and some shares in the UFC being honest cant blame the guy if he is breaking the records all the time.

Woodley is like double his size..Conor had to pack on the pounds to make 170, whilst Woodley probably walks around at 190? One punch would take Connors head clean off. And he wouldnt get near Stephen Thompson

Oh yeah not knocking him for it, don't mind the talk personally - he knows what he's doing when he uses it and hasn't crossed any lines mouthing off. He appears to be one of the most dedicated, skilled fighters in it at the moment despite all the distractions too.

Trust me, while he's working with John Kavanagh his feet will stay firmly on the ground in training and he'll always be fully prepared :)

Big decision to make now on weight class though, personally I think he should stay at lightweight. Making featherweight seems to be something that causes him trouble and there's no real challenges in the division for someone with his power and he was a lot slower at welterweight (although once he was adjusted and training at the weight long term it could be different) although he hits hard enough. I don't think he'll be allowed to hang on to both belts as it means less title fights on the UFC cards.

I think McGregor's quality, he's a character, he's like a MMA version of Liam Gallagher. Quality. Plus he backs up what he says.

Guess despite being the #1 contender Khabib won't be getting a title shot anytime soon now?
Depends on which division McGregor fights in next and whether Khabib can stay in fighting shape really. I think if McGregor has any ambitions at featherweight he has to defend that belt next.

McGregor's missus is pregnant, and he's said he doesn't want the celebrity family tag - reckon he might do a couple of defenses then call it a day?

He wants a new contract and shares in UFC, can't see them giving him any less than a 5 fight contract.

I think he was trying to copy Liam's bowl in the ring before the fight but he ended up looking a bit of a tit tbh.
He doesn't need to do all that nonsense as he's a great talent who would sell shows regardless.
I suppose like any pantomime, they like having villains . I wonder if he's a bellend in real life?

Conor: "Khabib had a good performance, but he pulls out too much for me to fight him"

Connor and the ufc are not stupid, they'll only put him in with fighters they feel confident he'll beat. Too much money to lose otherwise. If he doesn't fight khabib or even Ferguson next I'll be severely dissapointed.

Fighters in Conor's position will never get the respect they deserve. It's exactly the same as Mayweather. It doesn't matter how many champions they beat, they will always be criticised for ducking somebody.

In the past year Conor has had 4 fights. In them he has destroyed 2 world champions and lost and beat Diaz at a much higher weight class.

To claim that the UFC are protecting him is laughable.
