General Videogame Thread

Small update on this. Seems that the 1995 City team are not particularly equipped to play a Pep-like formation and that Kinkladze and Ekelund are not adequate replacements for De Bruyne and Silva. Nor does my midfield of Jim Whitley, Steve Lomas or Michael Brown really understand the deep lying playmaker role.
My plan therefore is to twat it long to Quinny and hope he sticks his head on it. That worked for Alan Ball right?

Give it to Gio

Played a fair bit of Tsushima the last few days. I think the side quests are a bit meh and the game has too much filler.

What I will say though is the story and action sequences are really good. I also think the map itself is stunning and the music/detail makes the world feel very authentic.

I dont agree with the 9/10 rating from IGN. For me its probably a 7/10 but its still an enjoyable experience all the same.

Can't really disagree with this. It's fun but i've found it feels a bit "empty" in places. Reddit is full of people's screenshots from the game as though camera mode is a massive selling point.

Think I might hold off for now and wait until its been updated a few times see if anythings added.
Did the same with Days Gone, only bought it fairly recently and loved it but I heard it was a bit rough round the edges at first.

Might be a good idea. I don't regret getting it on release at all but seeing the amount of screenshots online about the beauty of the game shouldn't be the main selling point. I wanted a Japanese Samurai RPG, not a photo simulator.

I'm reminded of No Mans Sky in some ways, although Ghosts had more meat to it on launch. A few hours in No Mans Sky and you realise all the procedurally generated planets are the same just with different weather conditions.

Agree on the side quests. Would also add that if you do the extra things before moving the main missions on then you get many a daft conversation during cut scenes when you do finally tackle them

A few examples
I had visited the golden temple many times and then had to go through the rigmarole of someone explaining it all again to me, same with haiku locations, bamboo, etc.

That's probably going to happen to me too.
i've come across haiku points just wandering around and did a bamboo cut before with no prompt from the story. I've only recruited one character from Act 1 so far so i'm really not far into the story yet.

I also didn't know how to do a spoiler before this, so cheers for that!

No worries.

If you are like me and like doing everything before moving on with the story a couple of things that will help. You can only move some side missions a certain amount before they stop, so you won't ruin anything by doing all these before you move the main missions on a bit. One main mission has to be done before it unlocks more side quests

How you getting on mate?

I'm really enjoying it cheers pal, the graphics are awesome and so is the gameplay. I haven't played a driving game in years so just getting use to it before I start the create your own team mode.

I have been practicing time trials a lot to get use to the controls and corners. I attempted the Australian GP last night but had to restart so many times before completing. The start of the race is so hard going in to the first corner and not hitting anybody. The flashback back function is very useful for later on in the race if somebody clips you.

Do you have any tips for start of the race and avoiding collisions? I have been using the red arrows which pop up.

The DRS function is great, but not sure what the "overtake" button is about, I have pressed it when nearing the driver in front and nothing happens.

I will watch a few youtube videos today for some tutorials.

Hi Bud, the overtake button is the same as on the F1 2020 cars in real life. It’s basically a battery pack that gives you an extra 165bhp and you get to use it (so long as there’s battery left) for around 7 seconds on each lap so it’s handy for overtaking or defending.

This forum is a great guide for set ups and general questions on the game. I use it a great deal for set ups

One of the great things about the game is that even on MyTeam, you can change the AI driver skill as you get better so as an example, I started on AI level of 60 and as I’ve improved, I’ve increased the AI skill (I’m still only up to 90). That was you can keep it competitive as you get better. I have to drive the wheels off the fucker to keep my place etc.

Ahh, that makes sense.

Cheers mate, will have a read through the forum, looks very handy for set ups.

I'm looking forward to some practice after work. I need to get use to breaking points.

Update:

Loving this game.

I've got use to overtake mode now pal.

Only gained P19 for Australia in qualifying as Ricciardo. Came 10th in the 15 lap race and got driver of the day. I've got use to overtaking and avoiding collision. Going to do a season with Renault to get use to it all before creating my team.

Such a good game, so intense and needs full concentration. You can't treat it casually like fifa, a GP weekend is a few hours of your time (more if you do a full race). So glad I got this game, looking forward to many hours of fun.

Toying with the idea of getting into a historical air combat sim on pc. The newer Il2-Sturmovik games look great, but I see a couple of free ones recommend too - Rise of Flight and DCS. Anyone got any recommendations? Preferably one with a strong single player side, not into online play at all. Also with one eye on Flight SIM 2020 I have to say.

Also, just how playable are these types of games with mouse and keyboard? I imagine not very, but even basic level air sim joysticks are over fifty quid it seems, quite off-putting if you're not even sure you'll like the experience.

Hey. I've got all of the IL-2's so hit me up if you've any questions. The single player has 2 main versions - career which is a fairly dry timeline of missions with moving fronts as per results etc. The other is scripted campaign which has more of a storyline.

DCS and Rise whilst free don't have much base content - you get 2 aircraft in DCS to start with, the rest are pricey DLC, which is fair enough given the effort put into em. One thing I'd say is almost a must though is a headtracker if you don't have one.
