General Videogame Thread

Madness isn't it. Almost as unrealistic as being able to come back to life when you have died .
Without the ability to go back in time 75 years and actually be involved in a WWII battle, it is impossible for it to be 100% real, OBVIOUSLY! You can go OTT the other way and suggest they add drones or modern fighter jets. However, there has to be a balance of fun and realism. It wouldn't be much of a game if you died once and could then never play the game again, would it ffs?

And it doesn't really detract from the enjoyment if you are killing the enemy sporting a pair of tits.

It detracts from the realism. That was my point!!!
You might find it just as fun if players were running around the Battlefield in shell-suits. Personally, I'd disapprove of that too.
It's my opinion. I didn't like it when they added excalibur style swords in BFH, and I don't like the fact they've put women on the frontline in BF5. It simply did not happen.

That's a really daft point.

Every medium has it's own strengths and drawbacks in telling its story. One of the drawbacks of interactive media is giving the player freedom make mistakes or move off story necessitating a reset to an earlier point.

This would be like saying that The Godfather is a stupid film because there's no way the Corleone's would react like that when there's a whole film crew in the room with cameras.

Also, and this is the most important point here, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK. By this, I mean that you state that having historical inaccuracies doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the game. That's great! I'm pleased you're enjoying playing a game. But just because it doesn't affect your enjoyment doesn't mean that anybody who says it affects theirs is illegitimate. They just want to have fun too. Why are you trying to tell them how?

I totally agree with you. It doesn't detract from my enjoyment and I also didn't feel I was preaching to those who do feel that their experience will be tainted by this "inaccuracy" If I have made anyone feel that I am telling them how to enjoy a game then that wasn't my intention.

I agree it did not happen. I also concede that this will effect your enjoyment. I should have realised as Damocles pointed out, that just because I see it as a tiny detail in what will otherwise be a great addition to the series other players might find it a bridge to far in terms of wanting to purchase it and play.

The BF series have never been totally historically accurate.
