General Videogame Thread

Ok thanks for that bud.

would this also be overpriced then at £2k?

I think I’m obviously going to have to over pay a bit based on where I live and what’s available

I don’t mind if I’m within 10% of what you’d spend in the U.K. but I don’t want to be bent over.

I also believe the above would be future proofed for atleast 4-5 years.
Have you though about AMD Ryzen 7 processers? All the reviews say it's better and cheaper than I-7's and pretty much on par with I-9's.

I've had a Ryzen 5 for 2 years and I've never had any issues. My PC specs are

AMD Ryzen 5 3200
16GB Ram
GTX 1080 TI

For gaming and work its great. Only thing I'm looking to do is update my graphics card and maybe get a 4K monitor but I have a series X for 4k gaming

It’s tricky at the minute as no store is open due to lock down so I’m chatting with blokes on Facebook about what they can build and it also seems stock is low on everything as no shipments getting through customs also because of lock down. Been offered this one also for £1k. As I say, I just want something half decent that doesn’t end with me being ripped off but that will last me a few years.

Much better for the price IMO, there isn't a weakness in that system and the RAM speeds aren't as important because you are going down the intel route.

The specs on that build would give you more than 5 years future proof, my reasoning is that if you consider the let's say intel 5820k which is the last of the Haswell chips which came out in 2014 can still run modern titles with pretty decent settings all round, and a GTX 980 which is again doing a great job running modern titles well despite being released in 2014.

Out of the 2 options you have laid out the second option is by far the better option, with scalping and the silicon shortage we have now it's really not a bad deal mate.

That's a cracking system to be fair, the weakness in that system is the 3200G, instead of getting a new GPU you could trade that CPU in and get say a 3600X instead?

Just an opinion, the thing is that if it works for you then it works, chasing the rainbow isn't always financially wise.

Started playing Skyrim again but ive modded the absolute shit out of it.

Over 100 mods which pretty much changes everything from the graphics to quests to NPC's to skill trees ect.

Took me 6 hours to set it up and running stable but it looks and plays brilliantly now. Feels like I'm playing a bran new game

How do you mod it? Are they downloads that you just install or is there something you need to learn to do?

Was thinking of another Skyrim re run on the ps5 but never used mods before.
