What sort of delivery/turnaround do they have for a 'non-standard/specc'd' machine?

If i had one criticism of Chillblast it would be that their build/testing & delivery seemed like 3-5 days longer than a lot of the other companies

It was delivered within a week of ordering. I had messed around a bit as well with the options so it was quite impressive.

I've never paid for a top of a line Gaming PC but is there a reason you guys aren't building your own rigs? Mid Range to Budget always works out cheaper if you do it that way in my experience, you can bargain hunt for the fancy cases too these days. I suppose it depends if you think it's worth the extra effort and it takes a little more know how and patience selecting the right components(at the right time too if you're saving every penny with bargain hunting) and putting it all together nicely.

I've built PC's in the past and you are right, it's a very good way of getting a decent rig for cheaper than the main suppliers charge. This time I had the money and couldn't be bothered to source the stuff I wanted/ needed.

all the machines i've had were also for home-working (and the specs needed are essentially the same as a gaming rig).
so basically the time & hassle required, the knowledge you know it's gonna work straight out of the box, and also the availibility of a techie at the end of phone if needed were reasons i didn't go down the self build route

that is really impressive.

with my Chillblast order i think it was well into the 3rd week after i ordered that it finally arrived. this was partly due to how the weekends fell and delivery options available etc but it still seems a lot longer than most other companies

Yeah I suppose if you have the money there's no point penny pinching if you think it's a good deal.

Wouldn't mind one of these actually:

On another note I'm a bit envious of all the people with the new VR headsets, not sure if I'm going to wait until it comes down a couple of hundred quid or just save and wait for the second generation headsets which will be further improved(better resolution, faster response, wireless... all things I'm expecting). I've been trying to find figures of the sales VR Headsets have been getting, I'm always hearing of people saying they've taken the plunge but apparently they didn't have as good a 2016 as they'd hoped, the interest is there but everybody seems to be waiting for the price to come down but that wont happen without enough early adopters.

I play Eve Online a lot and CCP Games are constanly plugging Eve:Valkyrie.

I've only briefly looked at it but got the impression that there was different headset technology available. Made me think it possible that only one might become the industry 'norm' (a bit like VHS & betamax etc) in future.

Will be something i'll keep an eye on but will likely another 12 months before i take the plunge

Eve:Valkyrie looks very immersive from what I've seen, never really played any of the Eve games but the view from the cockpit looks great. I think Valve just opened up some of their technology to 3rd party, for their VR Space tracking(the tech that maps your room out and sets boundaries so you don't knock things over) I expect both Vive and Oculus to basically become virtually the same except Oculus lets you buy it all in bits(headset, controllers, infra red sensors). I think you can already access the Oculus platform with Vive and vice versa, it's probably in their best interest they just push VR mainstream since they've both invested so much.

For now I've just gone the cheapo route and got myself a Blitzwolf VR3 headset for my phone, pretty decent for £15(from banggood), Vanguard V Cardboard edition is one of the highlights so far it's a great little demo for free("InMind VR" looks ok too). My phone seems to run everything very smoothly without a hitch(making sure the lenses are dust free and the screen is spotless is a must though) but I can just tell how much better a Vive/Oculus will be once I get to try.

Yeah, you're probably right.
It just made me wary when CCP Games are saying Valkyrie is developed with one type of Oculus product in mind, but they can't guarantee it will work with the other DK2 Oculus stuff.

To be honest, it could be something & nothing but i'd sooner wait till they get chance to iron all the kinks out and the prices come down, before i get involved with the VR stuff.
