Xbox one and I've also got a switch lite, can't beat a bit of MarioWhat platform is everyone on here? PC, PS, Xbox, other?
PC for me, I dont have the dexterity anymore for controllers
Other than the divisive RDR2 when was the last time Rockstar actually released anything new?
All they seem to do is rehash old games these days.
GTA5 is the highest grossing entertainment product in history. Star Wars. Potter. Pokemon. All that stuff can't get close to it. The online section of that game is absolutely ridiculously big. It makes them billions. Literally.
Sadly that's why new games are a rarity! All their effort goes into that while they slowly build their next big game. Gta6 will eventually come but itll be 2023 I reckon. Then they'll make billions off that online mode for a decade. RDR3 will probably arrive in 2027 or sumat then.
Mad, GTA V was a great game. But the online world is a mess. Astounds me how popular it is.

Theres plenty of mileage in GTA online. No need to do anything
It also takes Rockstar the best part of 10 years to build a game. Think RDR2 took 7 years to produce.
Divisive?

It sum it up technically stunning but it's just so dull.
Just a few observations.
The first thing that comes to mind is the constant inane jabbering on the way between missions. It hardly adds anything and just makes you want to ride on ahead and get some peace and quiet! And by horseback which takes so long to get anywhere.
I really didn't like one of the first missions either where you kill about 30 people. You have one of the slowest AAA games in recent memory where you do everything at such a leisurely pace.
Then suddenly you're gunning down men by the dozen with that deadeye system that just makes the shootouts even more unrewarding. It just doesn't fit with the tone of the rest of the game. Westerns are known for their tense shootouts so I'd liked to have seen half a dozen enemies that were smart and hard to kill rather than just fodder.
I need to go back, ignore the missions and just mess about on my own for a few hours. The world itself looks stunning so I'm sure just exploring would be pretty cool.

Yeah I know... If you like online gaming then sure it has plenty of life left. Especially when it was available for free on PC recently and is going to be free to play on the PS5 so even more people playing.
It's just so long between games now though. I can't believe they haven't released a single GTA game in this generation.
There definitely seems to be a shift in the model. I'm not a massive gamer but I have got into COD Warzone. I can't believe its free. I paid for the game that has various stuff that my son plays but I'm not into that. I just like the battle royal format and they give that away.
The rationale seems to be that you make money now via online and subscriptions not by selling the game on a disc. The code is much harder to develop so a refresh or new version of a game takes years to develop. And is it worth it - the capability of top gaming PCs is miles ahead of the average console user. So why build an incredible game that only 1% of gamers can play to its full potential.
It is easier to make money by having a very well established game and keeping the buzz going. The business plan with Warzone seems to be build a massive playing community and keep developing the game and offering for free. I think we are almost at a shift like in music where the album on a disc was replaced by low quality streaming. When that happened the amount of money that record companies would invest in a record deal based on albums fell through the floor. Is gaming going the same way? More money to be made with lower tech / quality and mass availiability than the ultra high end experience.
yeah they used to release smaller versions didnt they. Like be Vice City, then GTA 3 over a few years.
I think they've just done these updates but put them into GTA Online.
It's a real sucker punch for GTA single player fans when they don't release games for a decade now.
Why? I'd rather have a game the quality of GTA5 once every decade than fifa-esque "updates" every 12 months that are crap and add nothing.
It goes largely unnoticed by me then. I know they added in a casino. Did they add in the aircraft carrier missions?
I know games take much longer to make these days but to go from this:
2001 - GTA 3
2002 - Vice City
2004 - San Andreas / GTA for Game Boy Advance
2005 - Liberty City Stories
2007 - Vice City Stories
2008 - GTA 4
2009 - GTA 4 expansions (which together were pretty much a full game) GTA Chinatown Wars for DS
So 4 main line games, 4 portable games and a large DLC add on for GTA 4 to:
2013: GTA 5 / GTA Online
That's it. No portable games, no single player DLC etc. It's just been the same games that were released in 2001-2009 re-released on mobile, PS4 etc
