General Videogame Thread

Destiny 2 is another example of that. When it was released it was very bare-boned although the shooting mechanics were great and Activision absolutely monetized the fuck out of it which upset a lot of players. When Bungie split with them and went on their own they made the base game free to play, made big improvements on the gameplay like Armour 2.0 and started to produce content players wanted and reduced monetiztion and its now the most played MMO shooter and has a huge player base.

Just shows how publishers can strangle developers to try to make more money off a game

There are games that are getting on for 15 years old that are still really liked - and if you develop a game over 5 or 10 years with people playing it and giving feedback its hard to compete with that with a team working behind closed doors for a short period of time.

I would guess all new Bethesda will be xBox ( and PC ) exclusive seeing as MS bought them.

No, they’ll be multi platform. MS’s strategy is very different to PS. They don’t care as much about what the games are played on, more that the games themselves are accessible and they are running the infrastructure.

PS5 bask in stock at game for anyone looking, but wait time is over an hour in the online queue so looks like the bots and scalpers are at it again.

Still holding on until later this year at the earliest before I upgrade, but I sincerely hope the motherload of all PS5s arrives shortly and puts all these scalpers out of pocket.

Sat in the Game queue and over an hour wait and been in it for 30 minutes already, very much doubt ill get one. John Lewis came into stock as well today for all of about 3 minutes. Its a total joke.

It certainly is, but I'd implore anyone thinking of paying over the odds to not do it. Hang on. Plenty more consoles on the way. Plus, remember the time Sony rushed console production with the PS2 to meet demand, resulting in thousands of returns due to reduced build quality... Hopefully not but could happen again...

All a ps5 can do now is load games faster, unlock some PS4 games to 60fps and let you play a few games of varying quality, which will all be obtainable for around £15-20 each by autumn.

Wait a few months, buy at retail RRP at worst, maybe a free game chucked in, by which time there are more games, Sony tell us which m.2 cards are compatible, patches for PS4 games to boost performance as well as frames are out, and more games that actually use the full potential of the new console are available.

Also, game have just announced they are already sold out.

Yeah just got the out of stok message now. Not a chance id pay over the odds, just cannot get my head around people spend 7/800 pounds on one, just crazy. I've got the cash set aside, so will just wait till more come into stock.

Having now played on both the PS5 and X I'd say there's absolutely no rush to get either. Yeah the games load quick and some last gen games look great but nothing about them warrants nearly a 100% overspend on RRP.

Before Xmas you could buy and Xbox series x from Spain for 465 Euros now you have to add 80 Euros tax! Wow that’s a game changer, certainly means stuff over here will cost more if you can get one.

Just dusted off the old PS3 from the loft to give the kids something to play with during lockdown. It's still a great piece of kit, even after the update i had to install, the menus are snappy even though games take a while to download and install (but the new ones do as well, i think..not had another console since). Just downloading Minecraft for them now.

I got to the end of CyberPunk for my character, V. Does anyone know if you get to play as a different storyline if you choose one of the other roles at the start? I remember it asked me if i wanted to be in the city, the desert, or another option i forget.
There are multiple endings for V, the first one i had was a bit dis-satisfying so i'm currently trying again with other options. Apparently it all depends on what you choose in certain conversations, and there are possibly as many as 6 or 7 different endings.

I think the first part of the game plays different depending on your character background choice, maybe some further interactions during the story too, but many of the available quests and storylines are similar if not identical.

Decided to address my PS4 backlog a little, started with The Order 1886 to get 35gb off my hard drive. It's a decent 3rd party shooter but I can see why it's getting a sequel and I'm quite pleased about it, the world is rich with lore and includes airships, Victorian England, vampires, warewolves, knights of the order, the grail and immortality.

I'm playing now, nearly 30 hours in. It's fascinating. The graphics are the best I've ever seen but it's confusing sometimes. It almost makes GTA V look 2d

Oh i see. I'm currently just trying to get to each version of the ending, apparently it's all down to the choice you make in one setup scene alone so you just need to load from that save point every time.

I've pretty much stuck to the story and only done side quests if i need money to do something in the story. Story will explain itself as you get through it.
