We need to get rid of this fucking virus called Trump, that has infected the minds of people with the notion that it is OK to treat other human beings as trash, or for target practice, simply because you have a badge, a pepper pellet gun, and riot gear on so you don’t get your own ass whooped!
I’m a lily white guy who lives in a predominantly lily white town outside Chicago. Today, I went into Chicago to renew my passport. It is a ghost town, with heavily boarded shop fronts, Police cruisers every few hundred feet down the middle of the major streets, and all but one bridge across the Chicago River raised to prevent foot or vehicle traffic between N and S downtown.
This “experiment” of electing a fake TV star, fake billionaire, fake patriot, and fake Christian to be a fake President of a fake democracy hasn’t worked. If we don’t discontinue the Presidential experiment in November, the “American experiment” might not make it to 2024.
If you had told me in 2008-2016 that by 2020 I would be horrified by militarized Police trampling, stomping, beating and gassing PEACEFUL PROTESTORS outside the White House, so the President could walk across the street, take out “A Bible*” to hold up and look stern for Facebook ads, I would have said you were the crazy one. Now, I feel like I want to peacefully protest in behalf of my black brothers and sisters, but am literally afraid that if I get caught up in anything and get arrested, it’ll be end of my career. I need Global Entry and security access approved by various federal agencies just to do my job, so any arrest by a federal officer would no doubt result in some trumped up charge of resisting or some such nonsense, and I’m done!
THAT is not America, that is China, or Russia...or it was before the Child in Chief decided he needed to be an autocratic President.
I’m dismayed, discouraged, and disgusted by what America looks like today. Pepper spraying children, a man with a pregnant lady in the car at a traffic stop and then repeatedly again when he steps out to confront them, pushing over old men and cracking their skulls in the ground, fondling women as you try to wrestle them into submission and dropping their peaceful friend for good measure, and using rubber bullets at almost point blank range against a man shouting that guns pointed in his direction better be on safety and opening up his arm and inner leg to the point that he is bleeding and should seek medical treatment.
Make no mistake, there are good cops out there. The problem is no-one in the public seems to know which ones are and which ones are racist pigs waiting for an excuse to damage someone with black skin. I’m pretty sure the cops themselves know, but without letting on about it, they simply look forward to tooling up and playing Street Paintball with protestors and media faces and bodies (I’ve seen both this week).
We used to say, “We are better than this!” but to be honest, I’m not sure large swaths of the American population ARE better than this, because the outrage seems to be being targeted at heavy handed policing on one side and justification crowd control on the other. The Tweet videos linked in this thread PROVE, beyond any shadow of a doubt, there is a large subset of police who are maniacal racists. The scary thing is one wonders if in some places, it isn’t the vast majority of them, especially from the safety of their body armor, 12 mags, and other riot protection paraphernalia.
Embarrassed and ashamed by what this Orange virus has brought to this country, and the messages it sends about who and what we are. All moral high ground against China has been lost in one week of “scaredy pants” policing from the HMFIC, because it’s getting hard to tell the Hong Kong crackdown from Thursday in Seattle or Atlanta or New York City or Los Angeles....
