George Floyd murder / Derek Chauvin guilty of murder

MLK wasn't violent and spoke out firmly against it.

I realise how bored I am of the narrative spoken about King. I realise that this an opinion, but it's one rooted in half truth, looking at the 'nice' Dr King that every White person felt kinda safe with.

Every Human being has a limit, a limit where when equality has been denied them, where when smiles and kowtowing and where waiting turns becomes dead ends or avenues full of horsehit to wade through. When younger generations see this shit, they tend to want to change the conversation.

This 'nonviolent' King story is a boring narrative to use...

King in Context

The mainstream media portrayed MLK as a violence inciting, riot raising troublemaker.

That's why there are so many quotes from him about being non-violent, because they were rebuttals to accusations thrown at him non-stop.

You penultimate sentence is a complete fiction. "Many" is not the way to describe a tiny minority, and if you think they are anything more than that, it's because you've fallen for the same stupid media fear-mongering I showed in the political cartoon from 50 years ago.

This is complex, where King stood. The media accusal was true. The denial from the King camp was also true.

But, towards the end, King could understand why people sought a different pathway in action.

It's still just public assumptions though, made years after the man's murder. King never publicly condoned such a course of action.

So why was the whole of America outraged at his assassination, to the point they built statues commemorating him, have a national day devoted to him and revere him as a visionary? Simple; few believed the narrative about him being the head of a violent movement.

Looks to me like your narrative is one that "all of America hated MLK", when in actuality his poise, charisma and genuine heartfelt sincerity in his message changed many narratives about race across the entire country. Many people from all walks of life rejected the mainstream media's attempts to smear him, hence his legacy. The same cannot be said about these thugs who chant "Death to America".
Even Though He Is Revered Today, MLK Was Widely Disliked by the American Public When He Was Killed

Seventy-five percent of Americans disapproved of the civil rights leader as he spoke out against the Vietnam War and economic disparity

You should know by now to never trust the polls.

It's amazing he ever achieved such a status of reverence in the US according to these internet articles!

Yes, he was HATED for spreading the message of liberation for the oppressed... by a vocal minority that everyone focuses on. The majority did not.

There are many, many other indicators that he was widely disliked when he died, which are reviewed in that article, if you would read it. But that is a poll taken in 1968, and is accepted to be very accurate to the sentiment of the time.

The reverence that many white people have for MLK now was a perception shift that occurred over many years. In many ways it was/is a self-interest shift, as well, as it allows them to create a “look, THIS is how you should conduct yourself Black people!” narrative, even though the public framing of his beliefs, especially those in the last few years of his life, are out-of-sync with the complexities of MLK’s thoughts (which is reflected in the second article I provided to you).

And parts of the US still do not revere him in the way you are describing.

That is simply not true by any historical measure.

And MLK was not the sole driver of change during that period.

Just as the current polls were accurate to reflect the moods of the populous in current times.

The simple fact remains that MLK's message resonated with many people and worked towards achieving the chnage he wanted to see, but was cut down before he got a chance to see it. Unless you're suggesting that the American people went "well, he's dead now... I guess we'll start working towards what he was talking about!"
