gerard weikens

shit?
no way
weve seen enough shit to judge, and he was far from it

intelligent and a good reader of the game
used the ball well ie didnt give it away and was a great platform for the more attck minded players to build from

he was one that in a better team would have been a better player - but did exactly what was required at the time

nice to see him mentioned here
a real unsung hero for me

Okay I agree

Wiekens was great
Horlock was world class
Kinky was better than Maradona
and Robinho is wank

Yep, that's what everyone's saying.

And Wiekens was in no way shit.

I always rated Weikens, remember we were dire at the time and he was without doubt the best player we could have had under the circumstances. I'd also wager he'd have been able to take a few steps up and play for a decent side in the prem, he was class on the ball, read the game well. Decent player all round.

He could never pass forward, pretty much like Gelson.

funny cos i remember in the 93min in the 99 play off final it was his long ball forward that led to dickies screamer.....

I met him a few times in Bramhall Park walking his Dog, top bloke, always willing to stop and chat. I also remember his goal against Stoke, great volley.
