The Germans are pretty sure he acted alone, it's great the way the authorities find this sort of detail out pretty quickly but hold on to the other facts.

Anyway the German premier has said that they will prosecute with the full weight of the law.

Suspect is Islamophobic, says interior minister​

The suspect arrested in connection with the Christmas market attack was Islamophobic, interior minister Nancy Faeser told reporters.
"This was clear to see," Faeser said.
The minister declined to elaborate on the man's political affiliations.

An islamophobic terrorist who decides to attack a Christmas market full of people who aren’t Muslims. That totally makes sense. I’m sure people will believe that

I’ve just read a few through of his comments over the years. I may be wrong of course but it’s hardening my view that he’s an Islamist terrorist and has been meticulously laying a false trail. As a back-up he’s held Germany responsible for killing Socrates…as the “mentally ill” card. A dedicated fanatical terrorist is perfectly capable of playing out a charade for a decade or more as we know to our cost from the Cambridge five etc (spies rather than terrorists). Not only has this clever **** of a psychiatrist executed perhaps THE signature “lone wolf” attack on European populations straight from the Islamist playbook, but also trying to exploit and divide the German population by their ideological differences. With the back-up “I’m a nutcase, me” card for good measure.

The German plod think he was working alone - he probably was - murder by car doesn’t need any supporting infrastructure - just a hateful, radicalised fanatic at the wheel.
