That specific part of Germany didn’t get the memo, it seems. Not that there should fucking be a need for all this anyway.

Following the Berlin Christmas market attack back in 2016, they put those bollards in place all over Germany on the Christmas markets - or so I thought - so I’m surprised to see they didn’t get the memo.

It’s utterly depressing to see it happen again and is something that has a bit of extra resonance with the other half and me as for years we’ve travelled to Germany for the markets due to the fact that we think they shit all over the overpriced and overcrowded ones at home. We often take in 2 cities and vary it up each year. Since 2014 we’ve been to Cologne, Munich, Aachen, Dusseldorf, Nuremberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Leipzig, and Berlin. Next year we’re doing Hamburg and Hannover.

Horrible, depressing news. Thoughts are with the victims and the people of Magdeburg. Having seen the footage, it’ll be a miracle if the initial reports of only two fatalities remains the case.
