What a strange tournament this has been. Portugal got absolutely battered by Germany and now France are struggling to handle them.

If Deschamps was a better coach he'd have gone with the 3-4-3 that Germany played and concentrate on overloading Semedo like Germany did so brutally

Instead France are pretty narrow and Portugal's fullbacks are getting up the field and stretching the play way more than they managed against Germany

It helps that Moutinho and Sanches are working far harder than William Carvalho and Fernandes did in midfield for Portugal

Deschamps manages to make France so extremely average. All the farcical pens to get them the World Cup don't cover it up. So much talent yet they are turgid to watch.

Portugal are wonderfully fluid in the final third tonight. Save for Bernardo out wide on the right, the rest keep dropping and switching so the French defenders have no one to mark.
