Gerry Creaney - your memories

Strangely Creaney looked a decent player at Celtic (36 goals in 112 appearances) and at Portsmouth (32 goal in 60 matches). Then he got the big move (at least in the case of wages) to City and gave up.

After he left City, he came up for an open training session for Hibs in Edinburgh. He did not impress. At the time he was 28 and should have been approaching the peak of his career. Instead he looked like a tub of lard.

He joined St Mirren and made 12 appearances and scored 3 goals. After than it was downhill all the way with 16 matches for Notts County, 6 for Raith Rovers and 5 for sundry Scottish and Finnish clubs all producing a grand total of 4 goals!

Met creany in the Guinness bar at old Trafford test match v Australia in summer of 97. He was with horlock, summerbee and bright well brothers. Horlock was so pissed he couldn't string 3 words together. One of my rag mates told Gerry he was a fat useless bastard. Creany replied he was a fat useless bastard on £7k a week before downing a Guinness in one.

Sounds like Horlock in the fanzone at Porto
