Gerry Gow - RIP

I've heard quite a few times off older blues that limestone station u had to fight your way off the train up the platform , to the ground, and back again
In what way did the police start it on q/for day...genuinely interested.
if my failing memory serves me well...
they purposely corralled us against a meshed fence on the lime street concourse and made us wait there.
it was clearly pre-planned so that the nevertonians (and, remarkably, some bindippers too) could safely cover us in spittle through said fence from the other side.
when blues complained about it they got truncheons to the ribs for their troubles.
then they marched us through the streets, occasionally pulling blues to one side in order to tickle their ribs further.
one of them jumped off his horse to let me know in no uncertain terms what he thought of people from manchester, as a 16 year old it scared the shit out of me.
people naturally got progressively more annoyed and eventually all hell broke out.

didn't spoil the game though.

For the old guard, he didnt played alot of games for city, but what was about him that gave him a status of city cult hero as bbc put it?

Cos he looked and played as though he meant business.every tackle, every game.which,as a fan,is what you wanted to see. Have u seen his goal at Everton in the q/for 81? If not take a look and take in the atmosphere while your doing it.only players of character can step up in an atmosphere like that ,away from home.
