Gerry Gow - RIP

Welcome, on this very sad day.

It may be 36 years ago, however Man City fans will never forget the impact Gerry had at our club in such a short space of time. He gave 100% every game , fearless, a legend as he carried the young team through to Wembley. I cannot recall any other player having such an immediate impact on our fortunes. We will never forget him. Thoughts are with his family and all BCFC fans.

Thanks Kismet and further thanks to all you MCFC supporters for remembering one hell of a footballer.

R.I.P

Remember one game, think it was v Ipswich and Paul Cooper was in goal. He made a save on the goaline and there was a bit of a scramble. I was sat in the Junior Blues section in the Platt Lane right behind it and I remember Gerry literally kicking Cooper several times in the face until he let go of the ball and Gerry tapped it in. Ref gave the goal!!! Don't make 'em like that anymore

I can't think of a player coming in new that stole my heart in such short space of time. Time to settle? He went right in there from when he entered the pitch in a City-top. His tough-tackling-give-it-all style of play was loved by every City-fan around in those days. And did the squad need a man like him in those days. It was great him scaring the shit out of the Argentines in both 81 cup finals.

64 years is way too young to die. This fck disease. Really sad news. RIP GG.

Wonderful guy and one of my favorites back in the day, a very sad day.

RIP Animal

Think he lost some teeth in the 81 final? I remember Graham Roberts saying how tough he was. I fondly remember the time Gerry and Hutchinson and McDonald joined, it was a great time to support City and I'll never forget it. RIP Gerry Gow.

Wow he was 64?
That's 11 years older than me! I was 18 at the cup final, so he was 29...... always thought he was like 34 / 35 when he signed for us.
Great buy along with Bobby Mac and Tommy Hutch that transformed the team.
RIP

He's here, he's there, he's every fucking where, Gerry Gow, Gerry Gow...

Five feet eight, tackles late, Gerry Gow is fucking great, na na nana....

Only 36 appearances... but still a legend. An immediate impact upon our fortunes.

RIP Gerry.

Gerry Gow was a player who the club signed when he was needed. Gerry brought some added steel to the midfield where there was none. Rest in peace Gerry.

Just thought I would share this with you before taking my leave. It sums up his attitude and how we feel about the great man down here in Bristol.

I have now posted my interview with him from October 2014 on my facebook: In that he talks about 1981 and working the night shift at Tesco.

Brilliant piece Gary. One of my all time favourite City players. Never forgotten.
