vaillant are having big probs with pumps on their new boilers, there are also many reports of the seals catching fire and melting. they shouldn t have got involved with saunier duval and glow worm imo. what boiler manufacturer now says that you must change a seal regularly to stop it causing damage? their old stuff 20 yrs ago was top, new stuff is crap imo....worcester all day long for me-- Thu Oct 17, 2013 9:40 pm --

:-) thanks EB you are a gem (will send your money via pm!)

Worcesters all day for me too,the new cdi compact is great although the green front case release clips need some getting used to...fitted one yesterday and fitting another next week..

Ive heard too about the problems with vaillant which is a shame..but why oh why would they get involved with Saunier Duval..?? thats like BMW teaming up with lada..

Thanks BMooners. Lots of great advice. Water pressure into the house is fine so the issue is the Hot water only through the whole house. Can live with it being shite elsewhere but want a good strong shower. Looks like a pump is the way forward. Existing boiler is ok if getting on a bit (10 yrs). Some mixed messages on here about a Combi making much difference to hot water pressure....

Combis work from the mains so if the mains pressure is good,so will the output from the combi, many modern taps have 10 mm flexi connections which can slow down the water flow..if your bathroom is upstairs and the loft is just above youll probably need a negative head pump for the shower..
Blimey thats quite a sweeping statement about problems with Vaillant Boilers being "CRAP" Paul, do you honestly think I would want to install a boiler that is CRAP, and a fire risk to boot, not only that would Vaillant want to manufacture and sell such crap !!! at the top end of the market too. I have recently fitted an Vaillant ECOTEC28 in my own house, my sisters got one too and last year I fitted one in one of my best mates houses, as well as many customers, and I certainly would`nt want to come on here and offer to fit one for a fellow Blue if I thought they were rubbish. They are very good boilers as are W/Bosch. Just to be sure I was`nt talking through my arse and had just been`lucky` not to have had problems with them I spoke to a mate in the trade who I know ONLY fits VAILLANT and nothing else and also gives a FIVE year warranty, he said he`s fitted litterally hundreds and only had one seal melt (not set on fire !!! just melt) that he fixed for free in twenty minutes. Vaillant are excellent powerful efficient very `reliable` units, and yes no doubt just like some one who ONLY installs W/Bosch we get a discount at Vaillant too the more we install, but I wont run down another product if it does`nt warrant it, I like W.Bosch too but find them a bit too fiddly and precious for my hands.

FFS! :-(

I need some advice before I ring up the plumber tomorrow and ask him to come back.

A plumber came this afternoon and swapped over and old rad for a new rad.

He bled the rads up stairs.

He was messing about with the combi boiler.

He had repressure rise it.

I’m now getting no pressure and hot water from any of the taps.

Only cold water is flowing

The combi is still working and heating the house.

Does anyone know what he has done to stop the hot water flowing?
Could have switched hot water off on boiler or diverter valve could be stuck

Crikey, inflation is a bugger, I got a Bosch 3 years ago from eon and added a 10 year warranty for £2,200 - wasn’t the cheapest they did as I went mid range too, mainly because it had the offer of 4 years interest free credit too (BG look like they’ll do 3 years now)
Edit, should have looked at the date - doh!)

sounds like he may have not turned the taps back to the closed position after filling the system,i have two blue top taps under the boiler, not sure about yours, clossed is across the pipe open is inline with the pipe, the symptoms you describe are the same on my boiler if the filling loop is not closed, nothing from the hotwater tap is normal when left open

Check the valves are in the right way

If it’s not that check he’s not turned off the hot water on boiler.
Could be the diverter valve is stuck.
Failing all that set it on fire claim on the insurance.

I’ve bled all the upstairs rods they were full of air.
