Getting disillusioned by Clubs Ticketing policies.

Slightly out of context here but it's relatively appropriate.

attendance tomorrow will be about 25,000?

12,500 of them are adults at £20 a pop
6,250 kids at an average of £5.
6,250 oaps and 16-21s at £10.

Thats £343,750 match ticket revenue for 25,000 fans.

Now what if we charged a set rate of £10 for adults £8 for oaps/16-21s and 5 pound for the rest? To be fair i've done no research but I'm sure there'd be an increase in demand. I'd say we'd get at least 40,000 through the gate.

20,000 adults at £10 each
10,000 kids at £5 each as more will come with the increase of adults.
10,000 oaps/16-21 at £8

That's £330,000 ticket revenue.

A decrease in ticket revenue but around the ground, in the store and in city square will see 15,000 more fans. Therefore we'd have a 37.5% gain of profit(compared to having 25,000 fans) for all match day takings excluding ticket revenue and as people have paid less for the ticket they'll surely feel like they have more money to go and spend in the areas around the ground.

.

Hope you dont mind my selective quoting, but for the extra 15,000 fans you would require, by law to bring in extra stewarding, together with additional catering staff to cater for those fans, thereby reducing you percentage profit.
Additionally the contract with the council would require additional payments to them, reducing your profit figure even further

You're right mate to be fair, not sure how much that'd all cost but as I said, pulled figures out of my arse ;)

Further Update:

Have been contacted by Steve Robbins from the Club, who has been brilliant about the situation (typical City) and the situation is completely resolved.

There is a lot of frustration at the Club with regard to problems beyond their control and they obviously feel as much disappointment at this as we do ourselves.

Jesus this Club is going to be the best in the world, in every way, just suppose there will always be some teething problems before we get it all in place, Thanks Steve, Thanks City.

Send your post in an email to Danny Wilson, I'm sure that this would be covered under the supporters experience umbrella. The dealings that I have had with him recently to do with my season ticket have been excellent.

Dead right. It's no good bangin' on about a 'Premier Matchday Experience' if the attempted acquisition of a ticket prior to matchday drives folk to jump into the Ashton Canal.

Lord E. I am glad you got it sorted but I am with you on your original rant/moan. You asked a question why does the club need the details of your niece ? I know some will say you could really be buying a ticket for someone who is banned or maybe it is 'The Law' but in reality this is a one off match, with a likely attendance of 20,000. It is not Chelsea where security needs to be tight. The original advert was trying to encourage Season Card holders to bring a friend for £15 so why insist they have a membership card? Like you I don't want to knock the club but sometimes they do seem to make things bloody difficult. As I said though glad you got it sorted, hope she buys you a pint for all your effort. (and if you dont drink...........I do, I'm in East Stand level 1.)

Update: I know there will always be thousands each week that get sorted fairly easily, I'm not suggesting this happens to everyone, every week, so there probably isn't any need for all the satisfied customers to keep posting.

I have been contacted by the club and believe they are showing what I said earlier about their integrity and genuine wish to satisfy as many people as they are able.

I will update shortly when I have spoken further, but already my faith is begining to be restored.

Sorry to have to raise anything negative about our great club, but sometimes, someones got to make sure they know fully what's going on.
I used to buy my Cup Tickets from the Arndale Shop, but they no longer sell them from there. That together with the Technical problems with the on-line has created a real problem.

I complained about it myself earlier in the month and was told that the Online system was withdrawn because of Technical problems, and will be re-introduced at a later date

I am a lifelong City fan, living in Greater Manchester since 1961, have been a season ticket holder for most of my life, as have my family since the 1920's. I try to get to as many games as I can.

After all the recent website problems and being unable to purchase any tickets online, I rang the number given on the site to purchase tickets.

I can now state that I am sick and tired of the modern day, non club based ticket sales situation, and find it ridiculous that having made 4 calls to try to get 3 tickets for Thursdays game, I seem to be banging my head against some corporate brick wall, the personal caring approach looks to me like a thing of the past.

I anticipate a probable poor attendance generally, on Thursday, and find it difficult to understand why in an age when the risk of any hooligan or terrorist threat must be at an all time low, the Club retains such a ridiculously stringent stance to buying tickets to a relatively mediocre game, that is in any event to be shown live on TV.

I usually take my nephew to the game but as he was unable to make it, and not wanting to go alone (as my own third tier seat was unavailable), I asked my neice and her friend, if they would like to go. both said they would and were really looking forward to it (both are in their 20's, by the way).

I made innitial enquiries on Saturday, but was told I needed both their full names, dates of birth, adresses with post codes and their city card membership numbers. I said I'd try to find out all the information and ring back.

I rang again on Tuesday, but even with the details required was told by the call centre (after a 25 minute conversation), they couldn't verify some of the details and therefore would not sell me the 3 tickets at £15 each, plus a £2 booking fee each. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who informed me the staff member was correct in declining me any tickets and was acting on the instructions of the club. She further stated that they were a call centre and not the club, so there was no more they could do for me. I asked if they had a number for the ticket office at the club, and she gave me one.

This morning I rang to see if the matter could be resolved, but having waited 21 minutes on an automated queue, I gave up and hung up.

I dare say I am not the only one struggling with this kind of problem and was about to ring a friend of mine, Mike Summerbee, who I know would certainly offer me some free tickets, because that's the kind of great guy he is, but didn't want to mither him to be honest over such a trivial matter.

Never want to moan about City, they have always been so great as a Club, in their treatment of fans and friends, but fear this is likely to become the norm and absolutely hate the fact our Club would appear to be on the verge of replicating the Manure in their way of treating loyal supporters.

I actually feel like saying "bollox, let's save the petrol and parking money, stay warm and dry and watch it on my own TV in the comfort of my own home", but though this is the most likely conclusion, I'm not happy and can't understand why they seem to be prepared to lose money, reputation and support in this way?

By the way, I've now put my tin hat on.

your tin hat on ? good......

Its a shame you've been unlucky enough to have so much hassle, but I think its the exception rather than the rule. I've never, repeat, never, had any trouble buying tickets for games. I took 3 colleagues to the wigan home game last season and because I was away with work I had my boss sort it all out online using my ST number and online account, no problem.

I bought a ticket over the phone for valencia at home in the pre-season, they were very polite, transaction complete within about 30 seconds..

I payed for my timisoara ticket last saturday over the phone, very pleasant sales person answered within 2 minutes and transaction was comleted within 3 minutes and I even got a text message for confirmation and an e-mail.

So, I think your experience can be put down to bad luck or perhaps bad planning on your part?

The process is probably a lot easier if you are a ST holder but most fans have access cards or city cards so the process of providing additional details is not necessary. I don't want to seem impolite but clearly you are not going to enough games if this information is new to you or you are having trouble providing details of match attendees......gone are the days where you can expect to call up the day of the game or the day before and attempt to get several tickets for family members who have never been to a game when your an infrequent visitor yourself (no disrespect meant).

Anyway you can take your tin hat off now, I hope you manage to sort your tickets out...

and try to get your family to more games!

Dennis, I think you are missing the point. Your Wigan tickets were easy to sort because your boss could do it on line. This wasn't available for the Timmy match. You got Valencia because just one ticket was needed and you had a S/T so the transaction is simple. Lord Eff has a S/T but he wanted to bring along 2 others, neither of whom has been before and do not own a S/T or access card and that is when the problem starts, name address date of birth, social security number etc etc. For a game like Timmy, low crowd, few away fans, on t.v., the club should be falling over themselves to sell the tickets not making people jump through hoops.

While I was at the Liverpool game me and my mate bought a ticket each for ourselves, then I bought 2 seperate tickets for a mate of mine and his girlfriend. Neither of them have citycards and I wasn't asked for their details.

Bit inconsistent aren't they?
