Getting old

I’m 67 due to retire in June and reckon us FOCs of this era can probably say we’ve lived through the best time ever living in the UK -escaping completely rashioning post war and the shit show that appears on the horizon for the generations behind us. Even City came good In time for our generation to witness it. We are old but have seen good times.
We had Concorde, the Vulcan bomber, the Lightning, Harrier jump jets, Pullman trains, QE2, Daimler Jaguar cars and proper Rolls Royce/ Bentley amongst so many other things which were interesting and inspiring.
On top of all that we had great freedom as kids.

I retired at 56 to spend more time with family, fishing, city and holidays. Thank fuck I did because you just do not know when you will get bowled a Yorker in terms of health. At 68 I am now facing an operation on a brain tumour in the next few weeks. The same day as my season ticket renews. At least I will have a decent excuse for missing games next season.
