Gin

Large wine glass, loads of ice, wedge of lime and a grape halved. Twist of orange peel and a good slug of your favourite mother's ruin - I'm partial to Tanquerey 10, Bombay or Monkey 47. One of the most refreshing drinks for a summer's night.

Seems to have been a Gin explosion the last couple of years. Loads of cunts come to the bar reeling off all fancy names and wanting goldfish bowls full of fucking fruit and veg in it topped off with some fancy named tonic.
They get Gordon's with Schweppes and if they're lucky ice and a slice.
soft cunts.

Very partial to gin and tonic. Hendricks, ice tonic and slice of cucumber, very good. Tesco do tonic of various types eg with a hint of cucumber, one with hint of elderflower, jasmine to name a few. Good as a long drink, with gin and ice if you fancy a bit of variety.

Gin drinkers display a certain modercum of sophistication a metric mile away from the irrepressable vodka louts that now abound at every street corner.

I'ts a still moonilit night and and all is silent and calm in little England.
Silent except for the 50ml of Cromwells falling head on in a frenetic dislay of Olympian diving panache whilst clashing with the ice and slice before coming to rest with an air of dignified pleasantry.

As the brew settles down you excitedly add a splash of tonic to this elixir sent by the gods of olympus themselves to soften our metal and mindset.
And voila my good man as you hoof away the plimsols gazing deeply into infinity and beyond.
I really really do like gin and tonic.

Yes some of the top brands are exemplarary however it's not always about money.
I say to you all ask and it will be given to you- seek and you will find - knock and the door to juniper salvation will be opened to you.
Aldi’s gin is making headlines once again. Its Oliver Cronwell dry Gin won a silver medal ina blind taste test at the Intrnational Spirits Challenge.
A slightly more expensive bottle from Asda won the gold.
But those in the know say Aldi is the tops beating mainstream brands such as Bombay Sapphire and Hendrics whilstst being comparable to posher rivals including gin from Harrods and such like .

A good pal of mine once said that with gin, youre governened by two things juniper and the overall strength being a minimum of 37.5 proof.
Gin is a proper nice in a cocktail but best kept for special occations of eleqance and social eventing.

Have a read of this then and dont fret because Aldis always keep plenty in stock and at under a ten spot what is there not to like.
(I share no affiliation with Aldis)and will receive little to no reward for this jouranalistic snippit.

Heads to Aldi :-)
Thanks Taxi!

Ahh, my favourite 'short' by a country mile. My small establishment has more than a dozen at the premium end of this fine spirit. There's nothing wrong with Gordon's - I like he high juniper content - but there are some that every gin lover should try:
Monkey 47 - made with botanicals from the Black Forest. Frequently voted the worlds no1 gin.
The Botanist - they claim the botanicals are hand foraged on the Isle of Islay. I don't care how they do it - it's superb
Sipsmiths VJOP. Very Junipery Over Proofed. 57.7% abv of a sledgehammer of junipers and alcohol. Have it! My favourite!
None of the above are cheap, but all are high in alcohol. You get there quicker and in style. The Ferrari's of gin.
Always on the look out for the next great gin - so keep the info coming Blues

Mrs has the Monkey, The Botanist (met a bloke who knew the people who foraged on the Isle) and Slipsmiths. She also has a bottle of Gordons, unopened, from the 70's. It was her Nan's.

A lady of fine taste, which begs the question ... ;-)

I must stress, although all Sipsmiths' gins are good - it has to be the V.J.O.P. for the full sensory blast.

Brockmans And Bathtub are my favourites
Must say the Aldi one mentioned is a belter for £13 litre bottle
It's called Cromwell
