Gin drinkers display a certain modercum of sophistication a metric mile away from the irrepressable vodka louts that now abound at every street corner.
I'ts a still moonilit night and and all is silent and calm in little England.
Silent except for the 50ml of Cromwells falling head on in a frenetic dislay of Olympian diving panache whilst clashing with the ice and slice before coming to rest with an air of dignified pleasantry.
As the brew settles down you excitedly add a splash of tonic to this elixir sent by the gods of olympus themselves to soften our metal and mindset.
And voila my good man as you hoof away the plimsols gazing deeply into infinity and beyond.
I really really do like gin and tonic.
Yes some of the top brands are exemplarary however it's not always about money.
I say to you all ask and it will be given to you- seek and you will find - knock and the door to juniper salvation will be opened to you.
Aldi’s gin is making headlines once again. Its Oliver Cronwell dry Gin won a silver medal ina blind taste test at the Intrnational Spirits Challenge.
A slightly more expensive bottle from Asda won the gold.
But those in the know say Aldi is the tops beating mainstream brands such as Bombay Sapphire and Hendrics whilstst being comparable to posher rivals including gin from Harrods and such like .
A good pal of mine once said that with gin, youre governened by two things juniper and the overall strength being a minimum of 37.5 proof.
Gin is a proper nice in a cocktail but best kept for special occations of eleqance and social eventing.
Have a read of this then and dont fret because Aldis always keep plenty in stock and at under a ten spot what is there not to like.
(I share no affiliation with Aldis)and will receive little to no reward for this jouranalistic snippit.
