I’ve often thought that kinkladze played in the wrong era. Most sides in the 90s played a rigid 442 formation. Kinkladze was neither a winger or a forward in the traditional sense. I think in a 433 formation he could have played in the David silva/Bernardo/gundogan role.
great player and will always be remembered as a standout star at city in the 90s but was still part of a side that was relegated twice. Didn’t really pull up any trees at Ajax and did nothing of note at Derby.
for his technique and skill he should have had more to show for it. Natural ability was off the scale but sometimes you need the other dirty aspects in football for it all to come together.
