Girona FC (partnership)

Wish I could watch as my other hometown club plays like crap again giving Girona the promotion we want.

I can only pray they win against Tenerife and/or Alcorcon loses today.

I miss the days of Gabi, Diego Molito, Pablo Aimar, Sergio Garcia... David Villa.

They're playing for a draw, both teams are just passing sideways without any signs of penetration. The stakes for a draw right now (38 min) are 1.11.

And Alcorcón is up 1-0 at the half.

Let's hope this is not another 2011 for us, though, as the last thing we need is another investigation into match fixing.

I am not sure about this. What is the point of buying players from this club, if we are not going to give them a chance to play in the 1st team, to see if they are good enough or not. There is talk that the club are thinking of selling both Patrick Roberts and Aaron Mooney both without seeing if they are good enough for the 1st team.

Eh?

We loan them players who get to develop in the top flight, if they happen to have a wonderkid come through the ranks then we will get first dibs.

Another great video -- this of the pitch invasion at the end of their match. This club has been around for over 70 years and are only finally making the top flight for the first time. They won promotion from the 5th tier during the same season as the Gills match.

Congratulations Girona FC

I don't think we should be calling them a feeder club or City B etc, I imagine it will be more like the NAC Breda relationship only with a top flight team(no offence to Breda). We have some seriously talented youngsters approaching the cusp of full professional football that a good coach would love to have in their squad, we all benefit as they develop so we should want/help them to stay in La Liga so the relationship can grow into something successful for both clubs.

Breda got promoted too...

Quique Cárcel: "Girona will make more than ten signings"

The sports director acknowledges that there will be "two, three or four" Manchester City footballers
Supports Muniesa "has profile" to be one of the new reinforcements

Once the celebrations for the ascent have finished, Girona is now focusing on the development of its new project. The team will be remodeled in depth and will incorporate "more than ten signings", according to acknowledged Tuesday its sports director, Quique Cárcel in the program 'Esport Club', TVC. "It will depend on whether we have a long or short template, but the normal thing is that there are many changes," he said.

And part of those reinforcements will come from Manchester City, a club with which he has "very good relationship" and with which they want to strengthen their ties: "Being in Primera makes it possible to reach even greater understanding," admitted Cárcel. "If the City can provide us first-rate footballers to fire, two, three or four, that much better. But the bulk of our staff will have experience, "he said.

The sports director assumes that the Girona must dispense with several of the players of the ascent: "It is clear that 16 or 17 players have a contract and will not continue all. The first ones who will know are them. It's a difficult situation, because they are the ones that have led us to success, "he said.

One of the names in the talk is Marc Muniesa. The Girona defender could change the air this summer despite having two more years of contract with Stoke City: "He can be a player with profile for the Girona. But now is not the time to talk about it, "said Cárcel, who asserts Pablo Machin's continuity as a coach.
