This is all hypothetical but...assuming we manage to get Given - Would you drop Hart straight away?

Of course Given is a more experienced better keeper but does that merit getting straight into our side?

I don't think you can fault Hart all that much, in my mind he doesn't warrant being dropped straight away.

My one critisism about Hart is that he doenst command the area all that much. I'm fine with his punching (we'd all be even more annoyed if he tried to catch all these shots and dropped one at the feet of an attacking player), and his poor kicking i think is the coaching staff/manager's doing because he doesn't normally do the whole irrate kick it without looking properly.

Another thing - don't you think Hart and Given are similar?
Both punch it ALOT!

Would have been easier if we ha dstill been in the FA Cup , but spread out games between Shay and Big Joe to the end of the season including the Waffa Cup

There is nothing wrong with punching the ball as long as you can punch it well. Casillas and Buffon, probably the 2 best 'keepers in the world, opt to punch 9 times out of 10 over catching.

I would feel extremely sorry for Hart if he were to be replaced straight away.. but to be fair, goalkeepers don't peak until they're late 20s/early 30s. Hopefully he will stick around, learn of Given, and be much better for it in a few years.

I think we're gonna have trouble with Joe Hart if Given arrives ........ neither will want to play second fiddle because of their international careers.

And i don't think Hart is the type to put up with it if Given gets the nod for first team football over him.

Don't be surprised if he doesn't hand a transfer request in sooner , rather than later.

In a way, Sven sticking him in there last season could turn out to be a bad thing, as he's not going to be willing to give up first team football and a potential international career now he's had a taste.
I genuinely think that staying and being Given's understudy will be a good thing for him in the long run, and I really hope he comes to the same conclusion. But I don't think any of us could hold it against him if he handed in a transfer request for first team football opportunities.

Personally i'd stick with Joe, but hey ho, I can't see Given signing to park his arse on the bench.

Correct, plus there's no issue really young Joe isn't good enough at the mo to get into any of the top four sides plus Villa, he's on a long contract. I along with others have said in 5 or 6 years this lad will be awesome, and by the time he's 32 like Given he'll be world class.

whens joe made mistakes. car nt remember many, all keepers make a few part and parcel of being a keeper thats how you get experiance. 5 to 10 mill for a keeper at 33 is not good business.

will shay given do the samba ?
