Something Bobby needs to improve? Or is it somehow working for the best, considering our results?

Shay Given admits it still hurts how he lost the No.1 spot at Manchester City as he prepares to face his old club this weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international left City for Aston Villa in the summer after being dropped by Roberto Mancini in favour of Joe Hart.

Given, who spent just one season as No.1 under Mancini, lost his place in the side at the start of last season being forced to play second fiddle to Hart.

The 35-year-old claims Mancini never explained to him why he lost his place in the side, suggesting the Italian struggles with man-management.

No explanation
"There was no explanation," Given told The Times. "That's the way he manages. He distances himself from players.

"That's how he deals with things. That's his style.

"I am not sure if it's right or wrong, but it's the opposite here.

"I think he was similar at [Inter] Milan, people tell us.

Balance
"But I think you need to strike a balance.

"With the players they have at Man City, it's about keeping the 11 who don't play happy.

"Bobby Robson was very different. Bobby would have put his arm around you and explained.

"One of Bobby's big qualities was his man-management. That's a big thing in football, man-management."

Grow up Shay. You sound like a schoolgirl.

Can somebody show me a manager who is close mates with his players and is a successful manager. It's no coincedence the only players who are criticizsing Mancini are the ones who have been moved on by him for being surplus to requirements, and last season's finish and this season's start tells me he knows exactly what he's doing.

Lost his place because his shoulder was fucked Hart was the only real first choice at the start of the season and with his performance he rightly kept his place, is a better keeper now than Given ever was.

"I am not sure if it's right or wrong, but it's the opposite here.

Well McCleish overall winning percentage is 8% worse than Mancini and it includes Rangers (66%) running in a two horse race and a relegation from the PL so maybe Rob's methods are right

'Bout time people realised that Mancini is the manager and is the boss. If he was like 'that' at Inter and if he is like 'that' at MCFC we have a splendid squad of players who must be perfectly aware of 'the Mancini way. Once they've counted what's in the paypacket it's time to get on an kick a football. Too much time on their hands some people and little intellectual material between their ears.

As Given himself says, that's Mancini's style and with any successful manager it's "my way or the highway", Ferguson (sorry for mentioning him) being the prime example.
