Given Questions Mancini's Man-Management

---I don't think Mancini i spends any time on players that no longer have a future at the club, it seems an Italian thing as theproposed strike a month or so ago in Italy was all about unwanted players not being able to train.

Personally I think it would be nice if he put an arm around Shay, Ade, Ireland etc as they walked out the door, but it's not going to make a lot of difference to our results.

He has shown that he's prepared to (to a degree) players that he considers part of our future.

FWIW, I think the headline, and the "raising questions on his man management" quote is at odds with what Given said in that article. He's said a number of times that while he was disappointed to lose his spot, he had no problems with how it was handled.

What more do you want from Robbie?
He won us the FA Cup and we are joint top only seperated through one goal scored
What is this problem you have with Robbie?

Every manager, regardless of their level of success, will have their own style of management. It will have its strengths and weaknesses, and it will have players who buy into it wholeheartedly and players who feel it isn't the way they would like things done. You can't make everyone happy all the time, especially those players who see their playing time decrease.

There isn't a manager out there who is superb at man management, superb at tactical awareness, superb at player aquisition, superb at in-game changes/amendments etc etc etc, everyone will have areas of expertise and areas where they aren't quite as strong. Mancini, maybe, isn't as strong at man-management as some, but he's obviously very strong in other areas as his record would attest.

From a personal perspective, although I can see how the likes of Given might have been frustrated by Mancini's style, I'd rather have a manager who was tactically aware etc and was getting the right results on the pitch whilst occasionally rubbing some players up the wrong way than someone who the players all loved but couldn't get it done on the pitch.

This thread hopefully doesnt turn into a I hate Shay Given thread, that chap did very well for us with his time at the club, and I for one will clap him when he takes to the nets tomorrow.

But he was beaten hands down to being the best keeper at the club by Joe,and thankfully for Mancini it was the correct decision.

As for man management,he may well have a point, but if the results keep flowing then everyones happy !

And that mate is exactly the point. I do believe that his man management is not the best but in all honesty I don't care at the moment because results are good. How ever he handled it the decision to pick Hart over Shay was the correct one.

It's not the decision to pick Hart over Given that people are questioning. There is a way to do things like this that gets the job done but treats the individual concerned with the respect that his previous good service deserves. Have a word with the fella. Explain your decision. Not too much to ask is it?

No it isn't and I said I think his man mangement skills are probably not the best.
That said, from a personal point of view as long as results continue to be good I really don't care.

I'd like him to manage our staff better.

He can only manage in his own style.
Brian Kidd has mentioned how similar he is to his old boss.

The United players were either scared to death of him or towed the line.
He was a complete and utter twat in those early days and his style split the old club in two.

I witnessed this on one occasion at close hand.
I was invited to Norman Whitesides wedding who was one of the gang who rebelled.
All the old school rags were there and only one of converts (Brian Robson)
was allowed to go.
To a man they fucking hated what Ferguson was doing to their club and they despised him.

Towards the end of the evening somebody had arranged for Big Ron to sneak in through the back door and he was greeted like a hero.

The point I am trying to make is that it is still very early days in our latest evolution.
I believe Bobby is the right man at this moment in time.

Only success on the pitch will justify his methods.
