Given Questions Mancini's Man-Management

fergie does exactly the same thing except 10 times stricter (with him the tevez saga wouldn't happen and mario would probably be loaned to Milan or something aswell) and he's always lauded for it. so there.

What's Given said that is so wrong? He's not had a go at us or our manager but offered a little insight in to how the boss works.

Don't people want to know these things?

This thread hopefully doesnt turn into a I hate Shay Given thread, that chap did very well for us with his time at the club, and I for one will clap him when he takes to the nets tomorrow.

But he was beaten hands down to being the best keeper at the club by Joe,and thankfully for Mancini it was the correct decision.

As for man management,he may well have a point, but if the results keep flowing then everyones happy !

I was sorry to see him leave, but I'm disappointed that Shay has made these comments. Its obviously mind-games before the match, and maybe someone should send Shay the pre-match interview of Mancini, where he, once again, gives his reasons why he couldn't select Shay for the GK spot over Joe Hart, unlike other positions, and he, once again, says that Shay is a very good goalkeeper and that it was unfortunate to let him go....

And that mate is exactly the point. I do believe that his man management is not the best but in all honesty I don't care at the moment because results are good. How ever he handled it the decision to pick Hart over Shay was the correct one.

Mourinho ain't coming, the sooner you accept it, the sooner you can move on.

Something Bobby needs to improve? Or is it somehow working for the best, considering our results?

Shay Given admits it still hurts how he lost the No.1 spot at Manchester City as he prepares to face his old club this weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international left City for Aston Villa in the summer after being dropped by Roberto Mancini in favour of Joe Hart.

Given, who spent just one season as No.1 under Mancini, lost his place in the side at the start of last season being forced to play second fiddle to Hart.

The 35-year-old claims Mancini never explained to him why he lost his place in the side, suggesting the Italian struggles with man-management.

No explanation
"There was no explanation," Given told The Times. "That's the way he manages. He distances himself from players.

"That's how he deals with things. That's his style.

"I am not sure if it's right or wrong, but it's the opposite here.

"I think he was similar at [Inter] Milan, people tell us.

Balance
"But I think you need to strike a balance.

"With the players they have at Man City, it's about keeping the 11 who don't play happy.

"Bobby Robson was very different. Bobby would have put his arm around you and explained.

"One of Bobby's big qualities was his man-management. That's a big thing in football, man-management."
