Giving money to animal charities

I know loads of people who go on and on about the latest exciting thing that they've done for charity and how much they've raised but they wouldn't dream of buying a big issue or a homeless person a couple of tea on their own doorstep.

I suppose animal charities just pull out the heart strings more than your local pissed up tramp.

Those people that say they're climbing Kilimanjaro or doing a sky dive or a bungee jump in a pub car park 'for charity' get on my tits.

I once scuppered some cow at work how was asking to be sponsored to cycle across Cuba. I pointed out, in a group, that I was not willing to pay for her holiday.

She was an angry lonely single woman who needed a good seeing to anyway. I just ignore them normally, she was an easy target and had it coming.

I've fostered dogs and volunteered for different animal related things . Money wise I want to say I'd prefer to help people but thinking about it that'd be a lie as I've always done the exact opposite . Once when i was still in chicago I got a case of flavoured vodka for free through work and drove around giving it to homeless people . Aside from being the opposite of helpful I don't think I've ever seen people so excited .

I donate money (not much) regularly to Cancer Research, Marie Curie and MacMillan along with fundraising for all three (due to personal reasons).

I takes turns donating clothes,books and old CDs to various charity shops.

I only give to animal charities if I see a street collector and needs to be bone fide one

Animals every time mate, humans bring suffering on to this planet, animals are victims of human greed and cruelty.

When I was younger, I would always questions why people would donate so much to animal charities at the expense of humans. What you said BBB, is similar to my thoughts on charity now.

To an extent, but not in every case of course, humans can help themselves to a much greater extent that animals in a human dominated environment.

Spot on. I have standing orders to Dogs Trust, an animal sanctuary and a wildlife conservation trust. I need to identify 100% with the charity's objectives and be sure they aren't wasting money on bureaucracy.
