To be fair, as a former journalist who ventured into pop synth as more of a hobby than anything, he, his writing skills, and his voice have done ok.It's up there. Every song a banger, done properly. Even his usually shit vocals have been brilliant.
This is a case, I think, of the voice fitting the tunes.
