Glastonbury 2023

In no particular order my top 10 favourite sets of the weekend from what I watched

RA & Blossoms
Cat Stevens
Elton John
The Gabriels
Jockstrap
Rina Sawayama
Manics
Los Bitchos
Viagra Boys
The Murder Capital

As I haven't watched Queens of the stone age yet they may well go in instead

I suppose for a band not playing Glastonbury is like being Harry Kane.
Except they still sell out stadiums etc etc and have never been big on festivals over the years. Their current tour supposedly finishes in December...I expect them to go on into the New Year a bit but that would leave them on their "tour break" bit of their cycle.

Still, a man can dream!

Dunno if I could stick Liam fuckin screeching/shouting those songs for the millionth time. Really don’t think it’s time for an oasis headline slot.
Be honest, do they really have the back catalogue to command it? I’d say they really have 2 albums to draw a “classic” set from.

*tin hat on

There is no one in the last 30 years that has a catalogue like oasis whether people like them or not.

Suede
Pulp
James
Blur
Madness
The Cure
Def Leopard
New Order

All have as wide if not wider catalogues as Oasis, also at least 6 of them are better bands too

Certainly got the tunes
Probably. But it’ll be a rubbish show.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan…was at Maine Road….have seen them dozens of times….but it wouldn’t be the most inspiring of shows…..and I’m saying that as discussing a headline act, perhaps the Sunday night closing act……just think in that context they be a bit..meh.

That is one thing they do have a great back catalogue. Some great singles and B sides after the first two albums.

Well that's just fucked any future headliners. Who has that kind of back catalogue and sing a long hits? Literally no one.

None of the following are likely to top Reg but out of the artists still going or might reform...

Madonna
Springsteen
U2
Oasis
Bryan Adams
Bon Jovi

All have very big back catalogues. Problem is Elton kind of transcends particularly genres.and has a very universal appeal.

Others more recent

Coldplay (yawn)
Beyonce
Lady Gaga
...
