Glastonbury 2023

None of the following are likely to top Reg but out of the artists still going or might reform...

Madonna
Springsteen
U2
Oasis
Bryan Adams
Bon Jovi

All have very big back catalogues. Problem is Elton kind of transcends particularly genres.and has a very universal appeal.

U2 aren't popular for some reason on here, but that's a very good shout.

Good shouts all of them.

Also Abba as a "legend" that have the catalogue and what not whether you like them or not.

To do what Elton did tonight you need three things :
  1. A massive catalogue of hits you can cover. The audience will know them all.
  2. a great set of musicians in the band that will be disciplined and play tight
  3. the absolute discipline to give the crowd what they wanted And not what the ego of the artist wanted
Elton delivered 1 and 2 in absolute spades. His only mistake was breaking the momentum of the concert to introduce the American wanabee. Fair enough, just class that as the concert interlude and ignore. otherwise top notch.

in another world, George Michael Would have sung Don’t let the sun go down on me as a duet and Kate Bush would have done the same with Rocket Man. Now that would have made it very very special.

Suede nope
Pulp haha
James half way there
Blur half way there
Madness love them fall short on anthems
The Cure really?
Def Leopard fuck right off
New Order closest you will get one of my favourites but I've never been impressed with them live

All have as wide if not wider catalogues as Oasis, also at least 6 of them are better bands too
