Glastonbury 2023

In my opinion Alex Turner for the last few years is trying far to hard to be Richard Hawley.

Seen Hot Chip a few times and always good live, hopefully catch them on iplayer later.

Saw Royal Blood at a free gig once (Wet Nuns final tour) RB were 3rd on the schedule and unknown at the time. Thought they were excellent, seemed like 2 mins later they were on The Brits.

Arctic Monkeys are fuckin incredible. Turner is brilliant…proper rock star, smart, cool as fuck and doesn’t give a shit what people think….and doesn’t rely on selling shit clothes and/or songs from 30 odd years ago.

They’re playing a proper festival headline show.

Great band.

So there.
Absolutely. Arctic Monkeys are fuckin ace, great songs and great live.

Alex Turner is a great front man and he's got great musicians behind him.

I knew Alex when he was younger and have actually played on stage with him and Matt in a club in sheffield at a friends birthday.

They were great lads and have become great musicians, however their stuff just leaves me cold, it always did even when I played some of it.

The set tonight was technically great but I was falling asleep after 10 minutes. I wish I liked their stuff more than I do.

I just don’t get the hate for Arctic monkeys …I get that the last few albums were “different”… I’m not a big fan of them. I think it’s some kinda jealousy.

They are / were a bunch of normal northern lads who wrote some cracking tunes…and made it big. They grew and developed into rock stars…and are completely playing the game.

Turner famously said/sang he just wanted to be in the Strokes….it’s ok for guys from New York to be cool rock stars, but how dare 4 blokes from Sheffield?

Fair fucks to them….brilliant band

There’s no way on earth this performance happens if they hadn’t made it big and were still hungry. They’ve lost a massive edge that made them such a success off their first two albums.

Can say they can take it in whatever direction they want now they are on the world stage and fair enough. But this is stage school stuff and for me it’s a shame. Not rock and roll like it was to begin with.
The next two albums after the second one are good, that's when they totally moved away from being a Libertines sound a like, but recently they've gone all elevator/lounge easy listening for some reason.
