Cat Stevens..... Brilliant
Morning Has Broken
Just been transported back to a late 1970's school assembly
I for one really enjoyed the Yusuf / Cat Stevens set. I'm of a certain age and I thought it was outstanding. Not as keen on some of the newer stuff. I can understand he wouldn’t be everybody’s cup of tea though so get some of the negative comments. Each to their own.

Looking forward to Elton John later. He was the first artist I ever saw live at Belle Vue supported by a very young Kiki Dee around the time of Crocodile Rock.

Saw some of The Courteeners set. Can anyone try and convince me how these got so popular? Nothing stands out whatsoever, average songs, no star quality.
Back when Revolution was a decent local radio station, Mani used to do a Thursday night show in the evening and he introduced The Courteeners with ‘Acrylic’ for the first time on radio. After hearing it, I liked it and I had high hopes for them.

Their first album went down quite well with me but outside that, they’re a forgettable band.

‘Kings Of The New Road’ is a proper tune though!

They pay them? Thought they played for nought because majority of the money goes to charity

They have a budget of £500k per Headliner, it used to be £200k

At some major festivals across Europe or Coachella in California, some headliners can get £1m for a night's work.

I read somewhere that charities usually get over 1m

Eavis paid himself 60k not sure about the daughter it didn't say.

The article also said the same about the band payments, certainly the 200k part

My son did sound at Uni and he commented to me that not 1 band who has been on has sounded "right". His main gripes were Axl Rose (obviously), The Pretenders (he said the singing was in a different key to the band), and of course the Arctic Monkeys.
I'm not aware of any acts sound checking pre performance so it's no surprise that the mix can be a bit iffy.
I was at Spike Island and I remember the sound being awful. I was there from lunchtime and I don't recall seeing a soundcheck... not that it would make a difference to Ian Brown's vocals though.
