Glastonbury 2025

So is tonight's headliner any good? I've not heard any of her songs. I've heard her name now and again but thought she was just some mid level pop star and didn't know she was big enough to headline festivals.

The kids love her, 11.4 BILLION streams on Spotify. She's basically Taylor Swift but much better vocally.

She makes pretty fun pop rock that's got influences from American alternative acts like Weezer, Paramore, and Jack White, but also has a bit of Disney in her (Miley Cyrus stuff) and a bit of Taylor Swift. Think Kelly Clarkson or mid-2000s Avril Lavigne. Not 100% my cuppa tea but she's released some fun singles and she's got a lot of energy. Will have a full live band for sure and she's got good sing-along choruses that will work the crowd.

They've had a running live feed of basically every stage for the first time this year, which has been great. I personally think Kneecap should have gone out live - a festival is a festival and you choose to take it all, warts and everything - but I understand why the BBC didn't see it like that. It's a minefield and they chose to walk around it instead of through it. Anyone desperate to see the set can now watch it on iPlayer anyway. All the BBC have done is try to find a middle ground, which is fair enough.
They have never shown any of the acoustic stage, ever.

@Crooked_rain

She does stuff like this that's a bit Annie Clark, Jack White via Taylor Swift, what have you.

But then she also does stuff like this that's more straight-up Taylor Swift, Gen Z balladry.

And then she's got stuff that's kind of a hybrid of those styles with big mid-tempo choruses for people to shout.

I wanted to see what the fuss was all about, so I had a butchers. Lasted 15 minutes, what a load of fucking shite.

Don’t let me down Rod

Not bad for 80 years of age.

Really good. Taking daughter to watch her at the coop tomorrow night and i'm looking forward to it as much as her. She has some great tunes.

Stopping going to see Rod in concert several years back cos it all got a bit Vegas but really enjoyed that. Bit cheesy at times but good Sunday afternoon fare.

Also, Maggie Mae is my first musical love and they did a good version, cock up n all, but they should have brought Ronnie out to solo on that. Did see Ronnie do that once at a Rod gig at Hyde Park.

Taylor swift is way ahead both vocally and lyrically. Olivia has some great songs and her voice and stage craft are improving but Taylor swift is at the top of the profession.

Taylor does a great show no question about that, she's a much more experienced performer. Olivia is a technically better singer in my opinion though. (This could get a bit like Israel/Palestine this argument!)

Don't think they are best of mates either Taylor sued her a few years ago!

Huge audience for him too, they all seem to be enjoying his performance as well. Not really my cup of tea but I’m enjoying it.
Like the time Elton was headlining.
Not my cup of tea but one of the best headliners ever.
The older artists seems to be the best.
