Look how packed in they were. It's amazing there weren't more tragedies at football.
Yes, I wonder how many got in by slipping the turnstile attendant a couple of notes, not uncommon on the Kippax in those days?

Definitely, but it wouldn't have been a couple of notes. It was only about £1.30 to get in anyway from recollection.
Usually, you 'bumped' the guy in front, pushing up behind him real tight and went through the turnstile together.
Great photographs. Some great fashions as well. Bell-bottomed flairs, bomber jackets and donkey jackets. Anyone know the attendance that day ?
I wasn't at the game but I remember listening to it on the radio. It was the last time we beat them home or away until the 5-1 in 1989 and then not gain until Keegan and the Goat and 2003. Beat them twice in 14 years.
How lucky we are now. Got the league double over them now twice in the last 3 years and blasted 22 goals past them in the last 8 encounters.
Truly happy days.

*wipes away tears*

In the 1st photo is that where the north stand meets the kippax??
And in the 8th photo, the kid with his legs dangling down with doc martins on- they look like the old rag socks to me, not 100% though in black n white .
