I think it depends if you employ the term as a pejorative.
There are travellers who hate being called Tinkers and there are Tinkers who hate being called travellers but you couldn't tell them apart if your life depended on it.
Both take a dump in your shrubbery and use your cabbages as toilet paper.

It's a boozer in Gorton often frequented in the past by...er Tinkers

One night it kicked off.....a female Gippo came in and glassed one fella then a bloke bit the ear off someone else.

It was a memorable evening...........

The words Tinker and Gippo might offend some more than the act itself.

you may also want to consider that the census always underestimates Immigrant communities as it is accepted they do not register to the same % as the indigenous population

So by the time you consider all other Religions English Christians, regardless of colour, in Longsight are a massive minority

I merely pointed out that many in this group may well be both English and/or Christian. Am i wrong?

on the Census they have Irish white and Irish Traveller/ Gypsy as 2 distinct groups

Mind you Irish white does sound like a super drug
