I’m actually surprised that even happens now, if I was in a charity shop I’d go through stuff and sell it for the charity online.

That's what generally happens. You can tell that they've already priced to the market.

If it's of greater value but niche, some of the bigger organisations will probably just put it online.

What seems to have been lost is that with the advent of vinted, spock, depopulation and marketplace, lots of people sell stuff like clothing that would previously only have gone to charity shops.
