There are some instances where this is the only way people can afford to bury a loved one who goes unexpectedly. There are two that spring to mind instantly, both of which I donated to.
A blue called Chris Drysdale passed a couple of years ago and it was awful for all involved. I believe a link to that was in this very forum. It made that event that little easier on the family.
Little girl got hit and killed in moston a few years ago by some pissed up **** who ran a red light. Again, that burden was removed from the family by the generosity of the public.
The other end of the scale is someone begging for a new washing machine or something.
Point being, it has its uses.
