Manchester is a bit of a shit hole to be honest mate.

Where you are staying though is a bar called Dukes92 it's just at the back of where you are across the canal, it's a pretty big and nice place, tad expensive depending on your choice of poison. It's on Castle St also there's a bar called Barca which is closer to your hostel on the same St as Dukes92, again another nice place, worth stopping in for a few before you hit the clubs.

The Wharf is nice too.
The Ox on Liverpool Road is ok as is Spinning fields.

Last time you could buy beers for that price in Manc I was standing on the kippax...hahaha

If you want cheap beer though look for a Holt brewery pub...there's plenty around the city and they are about as cheap as you'll get

You are looking at £3 average a pint in most city centre pubs. Wetherspoons chain is the cheapest. Four in the centre, Deansgate (Moon Under Water), Oxford Rd (Paramount), Princess St (Waterhouse) and Piccadilly (The Piccadilly). Avoid the Piccadilly one like the plague ...
