Going Through Lights On Red

Last Sunday coming home from Swansea and after driving 230 miles+, negotiating several sets of roadworks and two accident delays I allegedly went through a traffic light on red on the East Lancs Road, 3 miles from home. I received the notice today and remembered it happening because I didn't actually go 'through' the lights. They changed as I was on top of them and I made the decision (foolishly as it turns out) to brake and came to a halt just on or after the white line, obviously I can't be certain because I didn't get out and check.
Has this happened to anyone else on here and, if so, what was the outcome? I assume that technically I'm guilty but it's a bit of a pisser because if I'd just gone through instead of slowing down and stopping the worst that would have happened is that I'd be eligible for a course. As it is, they say I was 3.4 seconds into the red and 2.9 seconds is the cut off for courses.

I travel to work about 5 miles every work day going through 8 sets of lights at least 2-3 every day people go through on red, does my bloody head in.

Just hope Urmston's in bed !!

It's worse than speeding now I can't believe how many people jump lights now, I now always wait a good 5 secs when lights turn green to set off for this very reason.

There's a couple of sets of lights in Rochdale that have the most ridiculous sequence, or did, and you can see that those drivers in the queue will be saying 'I ain't waiting any longer'! and go through when the next change has clearly gone on green. There should be a camera on every set of lights that has a box andthose jumping need their cars squashing! That'll learn 'em!

I believe the rule is if both your axles are past the line you have gone through a red light, whether you stop after the line is irrelevant, take your punishment for not being very good at driving

Green means go though doesn't it?
