Golf Thread

There was a Bluemoon golf competition a good few years ago, think it was at the Marriott Worsley. I couldn't make it due to work commitments but from the thread it seemed like it was a good day.

it was at the marriott i got us a good deal Droylsden Blue won it bluebird 1 and ally helped with the drinks, sorry i mean they got pissed

Was trying keep it simple for beginners mate.

If you understand it at the beginning it makes it simpler but that's the problem with the game, I have 20 years of bad habits, getting rid of them is hard. Just going out and swinging and getting tips off other guys who are equally clueless doesn't help

What does everyone play off ? Have got to 12 and today 13 and play 2 or 3 times a month and never practise and seem to have hit a ceiling whereby to get any better i need more time and a more serious nature .

I will drift out to 15 and back in to 12 no doubt as has been a cycle for a couple of years

Practice your short game as much as you can. 100 yards in is where 80% of your shots are made. Get your puttng average down from 36 to 30 and your handicap plummets.

Putting is pretty good but definitely for me the within 30 yards is the issue don't get up and down enough , my attention span struggles with practise though - I prefer the force . I could also save 2 or 3 shots a round by not thinking I am bubba Watson and trying the impossible shot. Trouble is when I nail it it brings more joy than the downside of the ten holes where I take a treble bogey because of going for it lol

I am very temprentally unsuited to golf but love it, also love the sledging with the guys I play with - driving with the Aussie slip cordon behind you is character building

Played off 10 back in the days when I had two hands. Now I just hack it to all parts which is seriously demoralising. I'm sure one day when the kids are grown up I'll take it up properly again but for now I have zero desire to keep embarrassing myself. Although now I'm keen to see what this keep your head backwards tip is, I've never heard that before. Will give it a whirl.
