Golf Thread

Usually love watching the Masters but this one i found boring.
Saturday some of the golf was average at best and Sunday Scheffler won easily.

Played a course out in Southport yesterday as the courses local to me are still shut or waterlogged - really challenging gales etc but it was really fun to play the elements.

Whilst I am still a complete novice, my scorecard of 107 wasn't too bad.

The two far better players I was with carded 103's.............

Lol

What did you want him to say?

It was an achievement for him to manage to finish 4 rounds with his problems
Oh, I dunno. Maybe something like, "well, I'm delighted to have made the cut. As for the chances of me winning; well, I'll try my best and see what happens". Is that so unreasonable? But by all accounts, he's not the nicest of bloke's. So humility and modesty probably don't come easily to him.

Such a tough sport even with everything in your favour. Been playing for five years and only now reached the stage where I feel capable of breaking the 100 consistently. Doing it is another matter. Only had 12 holes available on my course for most of the winter. Closed again today no surprise

I believe he is a bit of an arsehole. Mickelson is another. As a golfer I’d say there are more arseholes involved than most other sports. There’s certainly quite a bit of elitism

Don’t play to par. Try playing every hole as a par 5. Concentrate on short game and putting

Think that comment was more at that stage just purely going by the leaderboard, he was still in with a chance, albeit very slim. It’s mire saying how unbelievable his first two days were really. To play no competitive golf and to rock up and beat the cut at the Masters was ridiculous really.

By all accounts, he’s not anywhere near as much an arse as he used to be.

There's been a lot of statistical analysis of golf in recent years and whereas short game and putting are maybe good for quick wins major improvements in golf are usually from improvements in the long game.
