Gonzalo Higuain

Never rated him any higher than alright. He's not shit but the money they would want means I wouldn't be keen on it.

Still 26.....blimey he seems to have been around for much longer.

When everything is factored,he's probably exactly the level of quality required.I suspect youd be correct regarding the inflated fee however.

I wouldn't really fear him in a team playing against us

Maybe, but we need to be realistic about the quality we bring in,we will be looking for a player who wont be first choice yet still poses enough ability to challenge for that spot.

If I had a choice, rather than this lad,i'd be all over Bony.He too would not come cheap, however, his wage would be less and being Prem proven is a huge plus,i also believe he has the greater ability of the two.

I agree but this is where the academy has to start baring fruit. Hate saying it but the rags used to be experts at it. Players like o Shea, brown, welbeck, Gibson etc stayed purely through an affinity to the club. They were capable players but never first choice. But they were happy with that due to being brought up through the club. Then when the club decide enough is enough they still demand very good transfer fees. The rags are struggling bringing players through right now so hopefully our turn.

Just before we signed Kun, Bluemoon had worked out we were getting a "Superstar" from Spain. All the talk was of Kun, Benzama or Higuain. None of us were sure who it would be.

If I remember correctly, Kun had just had his worst season at Athletico the one immediately before he came to us. Like many on here I wanted Higuain then. If you go back to Bluemoon two seasons before this point; lots of posters were saying go for Crouch or Defoe and not Rocky Santa Cruz.

Last summer I was distinctly unimpressed when we got the Beast ( how wrong was I ) especially when we had a million page thread on Cavani v Falcao.

You never know with strikers just what will fit right with where the team actually is at that point in time.

A fantastic player but my instinct and on this post alone it has been wrong, right, wrong is to give it a miss.

Your right.

I remember we were after either the Beast or Soldado and hoped for Soldado.

We are now a club who buy players to fit the team.

Never heard of Fernandhino before he signed likewise Fernando but both are players we needed for the system we play.

I trust those in charge and I'm sure they will get it right.

dont like higuain, he seems to be the joe hart of strikers. misses too many easy chances, I for one would prefer iheanacho or some academy player as 4th choice striker or a first team winger instead

I thought he left Real Madrid to become a first choice striker?

His goal tally is very good though:

15 in 35 for River Plate*

107 in 190 for Real Madrid*

17 in 31 for Napoli*

22 in 43 for Argentina

*League matches.
