i was on his college course, he knows his stuff hes very opinianated, i dont agree with alot of what he says but to his credit he always backs an argument up from both sides and he really does know his football, hes had management jobs offred to him but he refuses.

He's pretty damn patient with some of the clueless callers, too.

Last night some lad rings up. "We should never have got rid of Hughes"

Gleghorn says "Fair enough. What do you think Hughes would have done differently tonight?"

Caller, all indignant, "We just shouldn't have got rid of him"

Glaghorn "I understand your point mate. So do you think City would have won under Hughes?"

Caller "Don't know"

Glaghorn "Well you're saying that it was a mistake to sack Hughes. Don't you have an opinion on tonight's game and whether it would have been different under hughes"

Caller "No".

He has the patience of a saint dealing with some of those callers. I'd have told him to come back when he's grown a brain cell.

yeah i heard that unbelieable what he puts up with, genuine aswell really nice bloke.

Didsbury Dave, It was his negative comments about Mancini before the game that pissed me off
therefore i didn't listen to the commentary.

What was his opinion?

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

No DD it was the game where he said, " were playing 10 men only 1 team going to win" 2 mins later were 1 down. Also he did his match summary when GB scored, the game went on for 8 mins more. He said, "City HAVE moved upto 4th" He was that busy going on i hadnt even realised the final whistle had gone.

Don't understand your point(s)

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

Made me laugh, even in my depressed state when they were talking about that twat (my word not his) of a ref coming from Liverpool , and how in the last three games he has officiated against liverpool, and Everton, we have hardly had the 'rub of the green', and said he comes from Scouseland! Not sure if that's offensive to Scousers, but I hope it is....

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

The times i listen to him it feels like he is cursing us, not saying i dislike the man, i guess i am not suited to listening to football on the radio

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

He is entitled to his opinion ,I dont have a problem with that ,but he gets his Facts wrong so many times it is unprofesional & then he goes on about totally irelevent stuff

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

Mmmm Fred Eyre did City against Joke???? Gleghorn doing some Joke station I wonder??

He wasnt even sure who and when we played next, last night.

He is NO CITY pundit end of, was just an average 2 Division ex-player (34 games for City) commenting on players that are far better than he ever was, may as well get Berti on there.

Fred Eyre for me every time at least he's Manchester Born and Bred

Yes I was p*ssed last night, about his negative comments.
Dont drink or do drugs just follow City all over the country SUPPORTING the team through thick and thin unlike some.

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

Gordon "great to be talking to a stoke legend...think you get someone else on here, a city legend not this man who talks down city all the time..."

...phone goes dead...

"seems we have lost Gordon"

It got said.

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

This thread wouldn't have even been started had City won last night.

Some of you need to grow up for fucks sake.

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

I think he calls it pretty well - was at the game so didn't get his commentary - but can't argue with his analaysis.
What are we saying ? - it's ok for us to slag the manager, team, performance etc but not for a pundit who actually wore the shirt to put forward his own opinion?
Some of the callers he has to put up with should be sectioned - he handles them patiently and with respect, Not like old Chubby Gary Owen who dismissed anyone who hadnt played professionally.

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

Quite right it wouldnt, because Gleghorn would have had an easy talk show, although he would still not have know who and when we played next.

Going to listen to Gary Owen in future, can take his negative comments because he feels the hurt.

Like you say everyone has there opinions, GORDONS and mine are just the same. Gleghorn should not be a City Pundit on a LOCAL Radio Station.

It sounds like you are Gordon. At least you've admitted you were drunk last night.

I don't care where a pundit was born, who he played for or how good he is.

I want him to be fair and balanced and have an opinion, not be some daft knob of a cheerleader.

As the above poster said, you need to grow up mate.

An email to the fucking BBC. Jesus wept.

Assuming he was fit and well would you not like say Malcolm Allison as a City Pundit? Allisons about as far removed from manchester roots as you are likely to get.

Please get a grip.

Re: Get Gleghorn Off GMR

Guadino, I'm after an Audi R8 for Fiesta money, dont care about the history. Have you got anything?

Anyway, I agree with you on some of the Muppet callers especially the lad that sounded like he was having a spliff whilst stating that we shouldnt have got rid of Hughes.

Only started this thread as a joke and its got so serious.

Just goes to show how fans have different opinions as do pundits, I just don't think Gleghorn is City enough to be a Pundit for City thats all and that is MY PERSONAL VIEW. I have a choice to switch radio stations and in future my family of 4 season tickets holders will be switching channels when he is on.

DD??? Were did I say I was Drunk??? I said P*ssed with his comments, see what happened there you only read what you want too. Bit like being a pundit.

Anyway just going to put some more tar in the pot, so when the rest of the witch hunters come along I can pour it over them from my Ivory tower.

What's that got to do with anything, Mourinho never played as a professional does that mean he can't judge a player??

Gleghorn is hardly the worst pundit on GMR although thankfully on the coach home they don't seem to have the post-match phone-in drivel on very often - I wonder why?

Great joke, encouraging other gullible people to complain to the BBC.
