It was probably the most effective political partnership in the last 50 years. The fact they didn’t always agree and each had their own mind was healthy. I think the stories about them hating each other are overblown. They might not have been best mates but they clearly respected each other and had a beneficial effect on the country. I say that on the basis that the global financial crisis wasn’t caused by Brown and its potential effects were actually mitigated by him before the Tories gave us 10 years of austerity - which was probably 7 years too long.I think it was a pretty effective partnership tbf.

You have to remember despite the SNP myths it was mainly Scottish lairds and lowlanders that stitched the nation up not the English.
