Should polish out with a bit of t-cut.
Had an ST courtesy car last december, was great fun for a while but was completely paranoid someone was going to smash my back doors in (oof) to nick it.All Fords have been a target for the last few years. Those ST Focus cars they made were being stolen for fun
Just turn off the keyless entry in the MMI. How hard is it having to push a button to open the doors ?If you have keyless entry and don’t have a faraday pouch or anti-theft box then you’re begging for your car to be nicked nowadays. Wouldn’t dream of owning a keyless car without any of those plus an extra immobiliser and tracker
The copper who is handling my case recommended a steering lock as the best deterrent. My car was taken without using a signal repeater, they snapped off the door handle and got it started some other way. Sadly I didn’t catch them on video as to how they did it, but they needed to drag the car on the gravel driveway for some reason as the tarmac pavement at the end of the driveway got scraped by the gravel caught in the tyre treads. A neighbour caught them on her camera arriving on one of those 4-wheel trike things and they used it to drag the car, we think. If I’d parked the other way round it may have prevented them towing it.If you have keyless entry and don’t have a faraday pouch or anti-theft box then you’re begging for your car to be nicked nowadays. Wouldn’t dream of owning a keyless car without any of those plus an extra immobiliser and tracker
Sadly cars have become much wider and don’t fit most single garages built. The car fits in but the lack of sunroof in today’s vehicles means I can’t get out! The Fiesta is 6 inches wider and 16” longer today than when my house garage was built.Just turn off the keyless entry in the MMI. How hard is it having to push a button to open the doors ?
Not sure what its like on other cars but you have been able to turn it off on Audis since at least 2016.
All the carry on with "Faraday pouches", just stick your keys in a metal tin or put them inside the microwave oven. The only issue is the the battery in the key will drain much faster as it will initially try to increase the power level to communicate with the car.
The very latest keyless system detect if the key is stationary. If it is then the key stops transmitting, so there is no signal for the scrotes to amplify.
An even better option, instead of people filling their garages full of crap, put the car in it at nighttime. People might find its also is much more pleasant on a cold winter morning. After all its likely to be the second largest purchase that people make, second only to buying a house.
