First Group are on the verge of going under. Tories have just bailed them out.

As someone who regularly travels around the country on traint, Virgin West Coast are so far ahead of the competition, there’s not even a competition!
Rather than go to wales on Arriva, now trains for wales (sic), I go Virgin to London and GWR to Cardiff
Rather than Cross Country (robbing bastards) to Southampton/Bournemouth, I travel Virgin to London and then South Western.
Rather than Cross Country to Norwich, I book Virgin to London followed by East Anglia to Norwich.
And first class Virgin is a lot cheaper than all the other companies mentioned above, and they serve fucking booze from 11am. The others don’t tell you want you get in first class, you have to either work it out or get fuck all.

From when I’ve used Virgin all I can say is good things and now it’s been moved to First Group who can’t run the bus company and most recently sold off most of the First Bus Manchester to various other bus operators.
